I frequent Old Country Buffet, especially at lunch time when the price is lower than the dinner price.

Lots of offerings and the offerings vary from day-to-day. Not the highest-quality grub but seldom do I have to spit out a hunk of gristle!!!

Some parts of the country term this type of place a "smorgyboard." All the food is available in the self-serve area. No waiting for an order to be taken and food prepared. Some may consider this a drawback since food isn't prepared to order. However, the staff is attentive and I wouldn't be surprised if they would cook what is offered in a special way to meet individual desires...as long as they CAN do it. I never asked since what is offered already prepared is fine with me.

The salad bar has enough offerings to please the veggie lovers and there's a large varitey of deserts. There's always a couple kinds of soup along with several main offerings.

Their fried chicken is quite tasty with BIG meaty pieces. Alas, the typical instant mashed potatoes are present but are usually prepared in a manner that makes them tasty enough.

This particular establishment has always been clean during the multitude of times I have visited over the past few years. The staff is friendly and attentive.

I rated Old Country as "world class" not due to the rare, fine, quality, fancy fare associated with very expensive restaurants. The high rating is for consistent decent quality, cleanliness and the large number of selections that surely would please every member of the family.

For the price, it's hard to beat Old Country Buffet.

PROS: Wide variety, pick what you want and leave the rest
CONS: Can be crowded at times
