.

Fairly typical bar for this area. Drinking alcohol and socializing is the primary activity. When the University of Nebraska, Lincoln (Big Red) has a televized football game the natives go bonkers and flock to this place (and others).

The establishment has a pizza oven and some locals rant and rave about the wonderful pizzas disgorged from the oven. Deciding to ascertain for myself if the pizza was as great as proclaimed, I bought a couple over the years. After the second so-so average-to-me nuthin' special pizza I went elsewhere for my pizza.

I am not a drinker so can not rate the quality of alcoholic concoctions created here. From what I saw, mostly bottled and some tap beer is imbibed here. Jack's Place is not a high-falutin' snobby place, mostly blue collar folks appear to be the clientele; except for those arriving to grab a pizza order phoned in and departing immediately.

I've never heard of any trouble occurring here nor have I read of any negative incidents in the local newspaper so I suppose this is a peaceful place to socialize. It's a local hang-out so if you want to interact with part of the native population this may be a good place to go.

The three-stars are based upon the so-so pizza I bought here. If I was a drinker or a Big Red fan wanting a place to watch those football games with others worshipping at the altar of "Big Red" I would likely give Jack's Place a five-star rating.

PROS: Booze Beer TV some food and socializing
CONS: so-so, to me, pizza

We were there on game day and they had several TV's blaring the game. The crowd was large, but nice. The prices are reasonable and the drinks are not watered down either. They have a bar type menu as well in case you get the munchies.
