I really enjoyed the fitness facility at Prairie Life, especially Chris' weight-lifting class on Saturday mornings. This class is reason alone to keep my membership. However, the daycare facility leaves a lot to be desired. The children to staff ratio on weekends and evenings cannot be legal!! Often I will see 15-20 kids crammed into the daycare with one or two sitters. Big kids will be throwing toys and running wild with babies sitting on the floor. The toys and room are often dirty as well.

I have been a member of Omaha's 132nd & Center PLF since 1991. I am very happy with its friendliness to young and old. I love working out with my daughter and swimming with my grandkids there.

I was a previous member of prairie life 5 or 6 years ago. I recently rejoined. I love the club it is clean and the staff are friendly. I lift weights swim and take Pilate's. My husband runs, plays basketball with our boys and swims. It is a great place to reconnect with your family and get fit at the same time. I have had a few run ins with some little kids in the women's locker room not being disciplined by their mothers, but that has nothing to do with the gym or its excellent facilities.

The Prairie Life in Lincoln that Mike says he belonged to has had the same manager since 1991. The staff is friendly (yes, even to kids), and professional.

Sounds like Mike must be leaving out a few "details" about his leaving Prairie Life.

Was satisfied member for many years. Then, a combination of things ... new manager's adversarial attitude toward members ... emphasis change from adult fitness to babysitting ... unsafe basketball play with kids running into, and throwing plastic toys onto court when adults trying to play ... closing racquetball courts to create kiddie rooms ... deteriorating men's locker room facilities ... a personal trainer that didn't even evaluate client ... trainer's inappropriate routine caused temporary injuries ... several times client showed up and trainer was unprepared, one time even out of town ... then the manager (who came from the Y system) refused to cancel training agreement even though client very dissatisfied ... then manager threatened legal action and bad credit rating if client didn't pay off agreement. I paid off the trainer sessions, paid out of the full year's membership contract, immediately signed with another fitness center in town, very satisfied with new club. Will never set foot in Prairie Life again, at least under current management and philosophy. Any perspective member should check what another reviewer said about Prairie Life employing a lawyer and collection agency before you sign any contracts. I knew about their tactics from a lawyer friend of mine -- that's why I paid everything off in full when I terminated. They can destroy your credit rating if you decide to quit, for whatever reason, and don't pay the full contract. Apparently they enjoy plenty of family business and are not concerned about adult members who have quit.

I have a family of four with two little kids. I was able to work out and have my kids enjoy the facility for no extra cost. The child care is fun with organized activities and my daughter LOVES the free swim lessons and ballet class. It is a very clean place with everything I could want in a gym and no guilt about time away from my kids. I would highly recommend!

The gym itself if fine most of the time but the staff and the people trying to get the most money out of members is a concern. They charge late fees on your month prior to you being there. The also messed up up an account for an employee of mine. Then when she had to catch up on her $300 bill they sent her to collections and added $500 to her bill. But get this she paid $250 of the bill off in August but by middle Sept the account was closed and sent to collections for non payment. Now try to talk to anyone after this point and get no replies from management and their lawyer calls you stupid. Now we have a $700 bill on a $60 per month membership. Stay far away until their fix their customer relations. Also notice how their employees turn over all the time???

This gym is part of a small chain of gyms that provide a great family experience. For a sizeable fee you can use their facilites but the real benefit is when you have a large family. After the monthly fee there are no more fees. You can have your daughter go to art class, your son in three swimming classes and it doesn't cost any more. They have a very clean facility and very friendly staff.

PROS: No individual class cost. Great for children
CONS: Expensive

This gym was my first experience with gyms. At the time I loved going and they had all I needed. Now, looking back, they could have had more. Their weight room is average. They really need to have a larger weight room with more equipment, including free weights. I always worked out in "off" times of the day and it was busy. I couldn't imagine working out during the busy times of day. I bet the wait time is long. They have a fair amount of treadmills, but again, during "off" times, they were not always available. They do have several ellipticals and many stationary bikes. They have an inside track and basketball courts. They offer various classes. They have racquetball courts and an indoor and outdoor pool. Their locker rooms are good and they offer massage, tanning, juice bar, and daycare.

At first glance, this seems like a spectacular facility. They have everything you need from singles to growing families to older people. I liked how the facility seems to be family centered offering a wide variety of activities. Staff
