After visiting the Cathedral in the Pines right around the corner, this place looked like it might offer some local color, and as soon as I stepped into the establishment, wished I could have conveniently turned around and walked right out. - Horrific service. Appetizer and main course delivered at the same time, and this in an empty restaurant. The hygenic look and feel of the lowest of the low, and small portions to boot. Somehow they padded the bill, and didn't leave enough time to really see what this was in writing - but all I could think of is how to get out of there and fast. Not for the faint of heart.

I have only been at lunch time, and for some small business meetings, but each time I have really enjoyed the food. I usually order seafood or chicken and have never been disappointed with the food or service. It appeared clean to me, and I did not notice any foul smells as another reviewer says he had.

Wow, I guess it's just not the kind of place a spoiled rich college kid should be hanging around in.
I find Cyprus Grove excellent. Great food, super friendly service.
The brunch has a wonderful variety of breakfast and lunch foods, along with fresh fruits and pastrys.
This is a very "home town" place, and smells like tasty food, during the day time.
I've personally never been in the druken college kid hours.

Unimaginative menu of poor quality and presentation, yet it is priced quite high. It's obvious most of the food is frozen and not fresh.

Drinks in the lounge are very expensive too. Do they think this is an upscale bar?

PROS: fast service
CONS: Not very clean, needs renovations.

The Cyrpus Grove or "The Greeks" as it is known by locals and college students from the neighboring Franklin Pierce College is more of a roadhouse than a restaurant. The food can be 'ok' at times but I have had bad fish and other spoiled items set in front of me on more than one occasion.

I certainly would like to support a local business over a chain restaurant but the food here has become consistenly inconsistent!

Their is a stale beer and urine smell...or a lysol and stale 'something' smell often wafting thru the air in here. That might be because they frequently over-serve alcohol to the college kids who come in.

Their Sunday brunch is a joke. They actually put a piece of plywood on the pool table and set up a buffet line. Most of the items are very bad. I mean, is that bacon or just globs of fat in the buffet tray? I thought green eggs were something in a Dr., Seuss story? The omelet maker looked like something out of Deliverance. Really. I'm not kidding.

The other big complaint here is the owner who is also the bartender pads your bill. I have seen it first hand and also seen some of the 'rich' college kids getting rooked after the owner has over-served them shot after shot of booze and then jacked up there tabs. I know its not an uncommon practice in a lot of places...but its not cool!

Bottom line...enter at your own risk. It can be a fun place to go to watch things get crazy once the booze starts flowing, but watch your bill and try to stay sober!

PROS: Fun to watch the characters, local pick-up spot, ok food
CONS: Food is inconsistent, overpriced, odors, barfights, loud drunks

Cyprus Grove, one of the few non-national resturaunts left in this country that acrually delivers a fabulous meal at a low price, as I always leave stuffed with a doggy bag in hand.
Locally owned and operated by a family for over 25 years, the "Greeks" offers a wide variey of traditional "comfort food" menu choices, with daily specials priced so low that it would be impossible to create these items in your own home for less dough.
One caveat, smoking is permitted and there is not children's menu. A smaller version of adult sized entree's are available for about half the price, but you do need to ask.
A full liquor license offsets the lack of crayons to entertain the kiddies.

PROS: Great food at a great price
CONS: Not very kid friendly
