When you search shady contractor on Google, a picture of these guys comes up. We had several issues with our house ranging from poor workmanship on the outside to a failing driveway to leaving our lot looking like Hiroshima after the bomb

I had aso many issues with my new home. It really was not the fault of starter Homes but, the office manager took care of me like I was Donald Trump!

I bought a home from them and it had several small issues and at first I thought I was going to have to pay for them out of my pocket. NOT what happened.

The company simply said that they would look into the issues and if they were valid, they would fix them. if it was my fault, I would be charged for the repairs.

When the work crews finally came 2 weeks later, the boss found 5 problems that they said they would fix at no charge. The 6th problem was my fault but since they were there, they took care of it for me and did not charge me for it! I highly suggest you give this company a call and if you have an issue, ask for Brian at the main office andh e will take care of you like gold! At least they did me and I am not easy to please!

Pros: They fixed every issue free of charge!

Cons: I had to wait 2 weeks for it to complete

Closed on new Model Home in May 2008 and had alot of problems:
1)During last Sept. rain storm, we discovered rain coming in and around BOTH sides of the chimney, leaked in 2 bdrm (from celing to floor), which we were sleeping at the time, down through the family rm (ceiling to floor) and into the basement. Found MOLD growing in 2 bdrm and other side of chimney & garage. Contacted mold mitagator,& had the air tested and found out that we have many types of mold, two of which are dangerous, toxic MOLDS! First 2 phone calls to Starter, they WOULD NOT do a thing to fix our problem even thought we had a 1 year BUILDER"S WARRANTY. Next phone call, Starter said they just clean the area w/ bleach (we said NO!).THen , they said go through our insurance company & havethe insurance company recoupe the lose from Starter. We tried to pay for the clean up ourselves but it became too expensive. Even though we did not cause the problem, our insurance company will charge us a 15% premium because of this! Starter's roofer came out a few times to fix an admitted error, but we are still waiting to see if the roof is fixed so we can clean the toxic mold! Walls will have to be torn down, all the carpet removed and then it will need to be repainted, We can't even stay in our home for a few days beacuse of the toxic mold mess whils cleaning/repair work is being done!
2) Our yard is a complete mess. The hydro seed on the lawn was no good (just crab grass and weeds came up, barely any grass) and the loam was full of rocks! We are still removing rocks of various sizes out of the lawn. We have also had to have our soil tested ad lime, loam and alot of seed to get our lawn started. Basicly, what Starter did for the lawn was of no help to us. Maybe we can get them to come over and help us remove the rocks out of the yard, instead of doing the work ourselves.
3) When we closed on our house, we were told our property line ended at one particular point. Two weeks later, a surveyor showed up when we wern't home, put a stake in our yard and marked the street w/ the lot number. Our lot shrunk about 5 feet that day on one side. A new home is being finisihed next to us, and a surveyor came out again (yesterday) and took down the stake they put in last fall (I have pictures) and took away a few more inches from us...how much more land are they going to take away from us! And for some STRANGE reason, Starter BUILT up the yard next to us, so now all the rain flows down through our yard and tries to find a way out, what a mess!
4) When we closed on the house, we noticed the garage door looked funny ( it looked like the garage door was made up of were 4 mismathced panels). We had asked for windows on our garage door, but they were missing, too. A year later, and we keep going around and around about this garage door. We found out that Starter pieced three panels that had sitting around and got a forth panel from someone. Instead of telling us the truth about the garage door and letting us know there was a rpoblem and that the problem would be corrected at a later date, they hid it from us.
5) Starter did not tell us that we don't get the roads plowed by our town in the winter because the road is not finished completley in our neighborhood due to the ongoing construction. They hired someone from the outside to plow the rest our our neighborhood but theour town does a better job.
6) Even though Starter had gutters on they roof on the front, we tried to get them to pay for some in the back, too at closing but they said in New Hampshire you don't need them. A few weeks later, we had to get them installed because the rain on the back side of the house was leaking into the basement . So a week or two later, new gutters were put in the back yard and we even had to add a feww more to the front of the house to help direct the water flow.

Pros: Nice Neighbors!

Cons: DIshonest realtor&builder

we have been very unhappy in the Sandwood crossing development because Innovative Realty mispresented the property tax base and our home is valued at $40,000 more than we paid. Plus the aesthetics of the development are shoddy at best - owner is very haughty - they covered all bases - none of the homes in our development have a decent lawn because they did not come through with honesty. I would definitely not recommend this complex and if the market was not so slow I would consider getting the heck out of here. Neither the owner (Pace) nor the realtor(innovative) deserve to be trusted - but every dog has its day. Do not get conned into purchasing here

We just built a house at University Heights in Hooksett NH and we cannot get this builder to complete the punchlist nor do any warranty work.

Also there is no telephone or cable in this development.

Starter Homes is #1 in my book I highly recommend, you always want to choose the best when buying a home, Starter builders builds over one hundred houses a year and yea of course some people are going to complain about minor issues. Starter builders has the best prices in New England.

I've been involved in purchasing 4 houses over the years, and this was the worst by far. I have had nothing but problems trying to get Starter (and Innovative Realty - owned at least in part by the same people) to live up to their promises. Besides the "little" things, like having to fight to get every repair actually done, they refused to do things such as repairs faulty floors, supply screened loam bed for the lawn (there were boulders over a foot wide in it! - I have pictures!) and supplying the amount of water the well was nominally supposed to produce. So far it has cost me over $10 thousand to repair what they didn't do. And yes, I spoke to a lawyer about it and was told that, in my state, you can't recover legal fees, so even if you win -- and he thought I probably would have -- it will probably cost more than the repairs. Bottom line - think twice before doing business with these guys.

Purchased a condominium unit from Starter Homes and found them to be a very disorganized organization with poor customer service. The finish work in the unit was marginally acceptable. Our unit as well as other units in the development suffer from drainage issues and we are currently engaged in a dispute with Starter over misnumbering our unit several times, which has caused a significant inconvenience to us. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!
