My husband and I were recommended to Bill's by a friend. Since there are not many appliace repair companies in Portsmouth and we try to always support local business owners, we decided to call them up for a broken washing machine instead of doing our research. They were in contact right away and sent someone as soon as possible, so I was extremely hopeful that our issue would be fixed promptly. Our front loader washing machine was shipped 2,000 miles without the shipping bolts and the tub was violently banging during the spin cycle. A 50 minute wash was taking up to two hours due to the balance being off. The repair man showed up and started off being not particularly friendly, but because of my frustration with another military move gone wrong, I went right to explaining the problem. He insisted that the banging was normal and there was nothing wrong with the machine, and the extended wash time was my fault for using too much soap. After insisting that wasn't the problem because I had the machine for four years and just recently noticed these issues and reminded him of the shipping without the bolts, he became visually annoyed and finally claimed the pump was broken. Even though all the water was completely draining out of the tub, he left my $85 dollar bill on my washer and walked out without saying a word. I called the number I used to schedule the appointment to explain my dissatisfaction with my service. I was told on the phone by who I assume was the receptionist how I was the one being rude and she extremely condescendingly said that she "did not expect that type of behavior" from me. Surprised, I explained that I would be writing a negative review on the company which was followed by her hanging up on me. I called back and there was no answer, so here I am. I'm sure this company is knowledgeable (she did say the repair man sent to my house had 20 years experience) and does great work when there is a very apparent, easy-fix issue with an appliance, but I believe in customer service and satisfaction, and that wasn't there in my appointment. After reading other reviews now, I can see that I should have done my research and hope others do the same when looking for appliance repair, and therefore do not recommend this company.

I have used Bill's several times over several years and found them nothing but prompt, courteous, effective and timely. The last go around I tried to wash a floormat and it shredded and clogged my washer, it was puzzling to the tech at first and it looked I might need a new pump. But he kept at it, found the clog and squared me away, all for a reasonable price. I would highly recommend BIll's.

The lady named Dawn, who is "owner and manager" was amazingly rude and just plain nasty about a situation. I was trying to reasonable and didn't lash back. It also took a VERY long time to process their services, for something that broke. ...very long. I would absolutely NOT recommend going there, WHATSOEVER.

I had an issue with a refrigerator and luckily I had insurance. Unluckily the insurance provider used Bill's Appliance for their repairs. In July, they came to my property to diagnose the problem. The issue was a board that needed to be ordered, so they could not fix it on the spot. At this point I was happy.
And then the wait began... I didn't hear anything for over a month so I called Bill's. I never reached anyone and left countless messages but never received a call back. Finally, in DECEMBER, I contacted my insurance carrier who reported they had never received anything from Bill's.
They rescheduled another appointment and once again it was with Bill's Appliance. The appointment was scheduled for 12-5pm. I waited at the property and they never showed. I called the office 10 minutes before 5pm, got voicemail and left another message. I called my insurance company and have scheduled a new appointment with a different company.
It shocks me a company can be in business, yet never return any customer calls and ignore appointments.

We are a big family, and our washer broke on a Wen. We were leaving on vacation Sat. morn. At first when I called Bill's, they told me they could come out on Fri.
When I told them my plight of laundry hell and offered to pay extra, they came that day for no extra charge. the Tech. did not have the part with him to fix it (lid switch) but he was able to bypass it at my pleading so I could do laundry.
I know this sounds sappy, but Bill's Appliance saved our vacation, or at least two days of laundry mat hell, not to mention the bag of quarters.
After we got back, they were able to come and put the part in.
I will be ever graetful, and tell all my freinds about this.
there prices were good, there office staff ( even having one) was great, and the tech was prompt. and able to get us fixed.

It is 6 yrs old, would cost $300 to replace the control panel, but they had a stainless steel Kenmore Elite dishwasher in their shop that had been installed at a customer's for 6 days! Apparently the new high efficiency dishwashers your friendly Federal govt are mandating do not work well with well water. Customer had mineral deposits, and did not want to put a water filter on it. They went with a low efficiency European dishwasher. I got a $1200 stainless dishwasher for $360!
Works like a charm, matches our kitchen, and has a 6 mo warranty. Bill's took care of me!

I don't know how it could happen, but the burner element in our electric oven broke in the middle. It literally has a break in the line. Well, I was able to find a replacement part at Bill's and they didn't even need to special order it. Every other place I called didn't know if they even had the part. Bill's is a friendly place where they have all sorts of parts IN STOCK!

PROS: Parts IN STOCK! Easy to find
CONS: in Portsmouth (if that is a con to you)
