I've been going here for 5 years and last summer had to put my 17.5 year old dog down. I agonized over the decision for months and Dr Berry sensitively asked what life was like for my pet and the family, explained his prognosis, and then laid out the options. She never told me what to do. On the day of the euthanization, they were sensitive to give us the time we needed to say goodbye and had us use a different room than the usual exam rooms--away from all the other pets & owners. Dr. Gambro is great to explain everything in detail too. He's very thorough and takes time with the owners to answer questions.

Last year I brought my 17 year old cat to them. They insisted that he receive a rabies shot even though the cat was in kidney failure and had never been outside. They refused to sell me the IV fluids he needed for his kidney unless I agreed to this shot. They said it was a state law (apparently a more important issue than my cat's life). They left a message on my machine that started "Good News! - great test results!". My cat died 3 weeks later. Another vet suggested it was an autoimmune reaction to that rabies shot. Too bad my cat had to pay the price for the inflexibility at the Plaistow Animal Center.

I'll be very sad when they move to Kingston because the staff is great and they provide excellent service for dogs and cats. They seem tp really enjoy what they do for the animals in this area. My dog actually seems less nervous around their vets than any other place she has been to. I always get quick and friendly service when buying my dog's specialty prescription food.
