I've been shopping at Cricent's before it's sale to Hannaford for over 4 years. The ads said friendly service, but that's rarely what I ever encountered. The deli section was the worst. It was like pulling teeth to get someone to wait on you. They'd see you there, and everyone would turn away, like it was a major imposition to wait on you. God forbid you wanted more than one item. They'd toss your first item on the counter and sometimes turn away without even asking if there was anything else you wanted. The prices were way too high -- not everyone can pay the "New London Tax" (the punishment for not being a six figure income resident I guess, they don't want us "poor folk" hangin' around). And by the way, bagging isn't rocket science. You don't put bread in with 5 pounds of flour, hot food in with cold, spread out the frozen items into half a dozen different bags, or put a container of salad from the salad bar in the bag on it's side... oh, wait, you do if you work at Cricenti's... I wish I had the money back on food that was wasted because it was bagged wrong. Complain and they tell you, "bring it back". Right, i'm going to turn around and drive 15 minutes back again, waste the gas and my time, just so you can say, "Sorry, I'll mention it to them". (which is all that ever happened when I complained). I used to spend 10 minutes in freezing weather standing int he parking lot having to re-bag everything after I left the store because the bagger was too busy chatting with the cashier to even think about what they were doing (yes, this included the "retirees" who should have been old enough to know better). And many times, I got my receipt tossed at me, especially in the evening, with out even as much as a "kiss off", let alone a "thank you". I won't miss Cricenti's one bit.

PROS: Close if you really needed something
CONS: Poor attitudes, high prices, non-thinking baggers and checkers
