Although I have been somewhat satisfied the infant room is small and often seems hectic. Additionally, recently there has been a lot of teacher turn over.
One day when picking up my son, a teacher left a baby to cry so she could do the dishes. I would think the child would take precedence over the dishes. However, when she saw the father coming she quickly picked up the little girl and said she was still tired from the nap. I have arrived to my son in tears and the teachers are doing dishes, sitting on the other side of the room, changing other diapers etc. I know there are time they will cry but I get the feeling they are understaffed. For such an expensive place, I would expect more ($75 per day). I opted for Live and Learn because I thought it would be the best around. I am willing to pay as long as they give my son the attention he needs. I am not happy and looking at other options. However, I do think the older rooms are better. They have more experienced teachers and do lots of wonderful outdoor activities.
I have both a preschooler and infant at Live and Learn and both love it there. My preschooler has been there for almost three years and is always so excited to go to school, as she calls it. They have so many great activities that you won't find anywhere else, such as hay rides, trail walks, learning about gardening, field trips, it's so great to see a center doing so many fun things. They also do so much with my infant, more than I've ever seen before. When I see pictures of him doing the acitivities I am amazed at how much they do with him and he's always so happy when I pick him up. I've had great experiences with the teachers as well. They have always been very helpful and friendly and they take time to know the families as well as the children.
I had originally had my first child in another day care center and disliked it very much. Once I found this day care I was so relieved and never felt nervous about leaving my children there.
I agree this center is priced on the higher end, but there is a reason, they really have top quality teachers and activities for the children. I would highly recommend this center to anyone.
The care here is excellent. The kids are kept active in a learning environment. I have two children with them and am extremely happy with the care and treatment. The socialization and education that they receive is wonderful. They charge a premium, but we feel the level of care giver and treatment warrants it. It would be impossible to have a staff as competent with out charging more. We would be hard pressed to consider anything else.
The main complaint I have is the number of days they are closed. The center is closed for 3 weeks (xmas holidays, start of summer and end of summer for cleaning). It also closes several other days for professional development. These days fall through out the year. You pay for the days they are closed and have to deal with no child care. Since the professionalism of the staff is a big draw, I understand the need for training. The difficulty of finding childcare or taking off from work for what amounts to 4 weeks a year is frustrating.
I think two of the reviews were about a different daycare. I have a preschooler enrolled in the program, who was first enrolled in the toddler program. In total we've been enrolled in this daycare for almost three years.
You will not find a more friendly, safe, stimulating, fun and educational daycare in the area. It is clean, big (both inside and out with wonderful playgrounds and play areas), and the kids are constantly challenged and provided with new and exciting actvities and projects. The summer programs are phenomenal with lots of day trips for the older kids, and all the kids get lots of time outside.
The staff is well trained, friendly and considerate and many have been there for several years. My experience has been that, by and large, all the providers take a special interest in each and every child. They all seem to really enjoy working and being with the kids.
The only downside is that the entire daycare occasionally closes for a couple days so the staff can attend a conference. This can be inconvenient given that they are also closed for a week at the beginning of the summer, at the end of the summer and over the Christmas holidays as well as for other traditional holidays.
I just want to say that I don't feel comfortable when I drop off or pick up my daughter. Barely anyone speaks to me and I feel as if the daycare is very clicky. The infant room is crowded and small, I barely know where to put my child down when I get into the room. I am very open to advice and want to hear from the staff about my daughter and feel welcomed as I drop her off/pick her up. I am a new mother and don't know if I am doing things right all the time, but by instinct I should feel welcomed by anyone that is watching my child. I don't feel this way here. As a new mother looking for first time daycare, for the price they are asking, it is not worth it. It is an expensive daycare compared to others. For the cost, I would expect the best.
I feel that this center is just o.k. I'ts cluttered and not very spacious. I've also experienced a foul oder that I constantly smell when I enter the new section. As far as the care all I have to say is who knows what happens after you leave.
PROS: longtime staff
I have been sending my 3 year old here for about 2 years now and he has grown to love it. He is always so excited to arrive in the morning and never wants to come home with me at night. I find the facilities to be extremely clean and the staff is great. They treat my child like he is one of their own. I always feel comfortable leaving my child there because I know he is in good hands.
This is a very high quality center. The staff is caring , nurturing, and very well trained. This is not just a daycare, but a true learning environment for children. The diversity of activities is amazing.
I felt so very fortunate to have found this team to care for my son! He absolutely loved it there, loved the staff, and learned so much. I credit them for helping my child become what he is today, one of the brightest in his 1st grade class.
It is hard to put into a short review what your child can get out of the quality care here. Even when I was out of work for an extended time I kept my son there part time, as it was a postive experience that he enjoyed and thrived from.
I highly recomend you add Live & Learn to your list of centers to visit!
