WHAT A WEEKEND

by Amy W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,162

We booked a romantic evening at the Mills Falls Inn last winter. The weather was very cold and we just wanted to get away. When we got there, they upgraded our room for free and we ended up with a beautiful view of frozen lake Winnipesaukee, and a gas fireplace.
The room was so cozy and clean we immediately felt at home. The employees were super friendly. Shopping and restaurants were only a short walk from our room in the same complex. We enjoyed the heated indoor pool area as well.

Nice area

by Kate G. | insider Insider | Rank: 16,382

My husband and I spent a night here one night in February a few years ago. We drove up without a reservation and with the mindset of "lakes region in the dead of winter" and thoughts that there would be no one there. Turned out it was their winter festival weekend. Who knew? There were snowmobile races on the lake, a chili cookoff, etc. What a hoot. We got the last room in the hotel!

The hotel was perfectly acceptable. The rooms were clean and cozy, and we had no problems. There are many restaurants and shops right in the same complex (so it's not necessary to walk outside if it's hot, raining, cold, etc.) Meredith is also a fun town to walk around. In August they usually have sidewalk sales (midnight madness, I think?) and that's fun to go to as well.

The price was reasonable, but not as cheap as I was expecting for that time of year. They definitely charge a premium in the summer and they get their share of seasonal tourists, so try to go in spring or fall to take advantage of their shoulder rates and less traffic.
