We enjoyed the theater. The problem is the scam going on with the parking lot across the street. There is no pleasure in coming out of the theater and seeing your car on a tow truck. The guy just waits there to get $50 out of you. You won't even see the signs at night unless you look real closely. And don't look for any sympathy from the theater staff. They were quite rude when I informed them. We will never go back.

This theater appears to be almost dead. We've bought tickets for 3 shows that were either cancelled, postponed repeatedly or moved around so much we weren't sure when the show was going to be.

We recently received a gift of tickets to a show and while the show was very good (Pardon My French, Susan Poulin) the theater wasn't very clean, the seats rocked back and forth all night, it was cold and drafty. My husband talked to two of the ushers and they admitted the theater has had issues since the old staff left last year.

Would be sad to see this place close but I won't risk paying for a ticket to anything except 5 minutes before the show time because I feel nervous about giving money in advance to them. Had to wait weeks for a refund last time with no explanation.

I also heard the moveable floor is broken.

I suggest bolting the seats to the floor and turning on the heat when it's cold!

The Rochester Opera House has been restored to a nice, local theater in the past ten years. Every year there are more shows and functions there, and it is a hidden jewel in the City of Rochester. The marvelous thing about the Opera House is that the floor can be raised or leveled, so it can be used as a theater or as a function hall. Because of this, the Opera House has held not only many shows, but parties and conventions as well. I give the Opera House three stars at tis time only because it has room to grow and to get shows that are more appealing to a wide number of people.
