Repair a Brick or Stone Fireplace (Non-Gas)

The handle to open the throat damper of my fireplace had broken off. I used Servicemagic to find a company that could repair the damper. I was contacted by both companies that were suggested. The next day Bernard from Concrete with a Heart showed up exactly on time. He dismantled the mechanism and took the main rod with him to look for a replacement handle. The next day Bernard returned. He had not been able to buy a new handle so he had made one in his workshop. He reinstalled the mechanism and everything works well. The handle actually looks better than the old one. The charge was very reasonable.
