I must agree with a previous person who reviewed this dive. One step into this dive and looked around, it looked as if it were swarming with crackheads. We took one step in the door and knew it was not the type nor style of place our party was used to. On our way out the doorman, who looked like a steroid queen made some kind of snide remark. Stay away, stay far away.
There are a ton of better places to throw your money at.

I went in there for karaoke night (a Saturday) and the joint was jumping. A smallish, working-class bar with a good mix of younger kids and people my age (40ish) and older. No attitudes, the customers were laid back, the bartenders and

this place is the epitome of dive, the women have more ink than the guys(more weight to)its smells like an overflowing ashtray by the door and i found a pubic hair in my beer.as for ambiance, picture a bar on skid row and then realize by comparison skid row is nicer!this is where the losers of portsmouth hang out...im not joking.if you ever have a craving for warm beer and crabs(not the edible ones)stop in.

Pros: entertaining in a sad way

Cons: unlike tv,there is no off button

Don't leave your money on the bar when you go to the bathroom, because Cambria the skank will steal it, and Jason the owner will cover for her.
If you like a bunch of crackheads and junkies, this is the place for you.

Cons: Skank Barmaid

The first time I went to Daniel Street Tavern I thought it was Ron Perlman working the door. It wasn't. He's a nice enough guy--albeit a tad righteous. Just don't show up loaded and he'll let you through.

Pros: the prices

Cons: karaoke

Anyone who does not get in is too drunk, so any comment before this one referring to the bouncer being rude, must have been.
The patrons here are welcoming and the bartenders quick to please.
Give this place one stop for some local flavor and allow your own opinion to follow. You will have a good, laid-back time, I promise.

Pros: Diverse group of people

Cons: Not much, but lack of tequila and non-fried food

I would never recommend this place to anyone. The doorman is a loudmouthed and highly disturbing man who looks like jobba the hut. He was so blatantly offensive I decided to take my business elsewhere. From what I heard from my friends who did go I did not miss much

The locals call it "D" Street, it is downtown Portsmouth. This is a great place to hang out with friends and play pool. They have great service and good drinks.

total dive, but my friends and I heard that it was fun on karaoke nights. The doorman was inappropriate toward some of the girls in line, making gross comments and was being lude and obnoxous, and they left to. I didn't want to stand around and be next, so we went to another bar. Get a nicer doorman- or at least one that keeps his dirty mouth shut and maybe we'll come back. Can't recommens this place at all. what a mean guy he was. ew. glad I didn't waste my money there1!
