I went on a Saturday afternoon..The service was so slow,.it took a long time to get our drinks and even longer for the waitress to take our food order, she rarely smiled , except when it came time to pay the bill.Don't go if your in a hurry. The food was good and the chicken finger dish was Huge ....but they defiantly tasted different than what i expected...The mudslide is delish but expensive ...but it is a very good size . On a bright note i saw Adam Sandler in there with Kevin James :)

...who didn't like the Puritan. The food was fine, but like the previous poster here, the service was sorely lacking. I've been there a few times over the years, but the last time was the last straw: We went on a Saturday morning, so it wasn't even that busy. The girl sat us down, and then seemed to forget about us. It took her a long time to come back even to take our drink order. It wasn't that they were out-and-out rude, they were just disinterested, disorganized and apathetic. My two main pet peeves in restaraunts are: waiting forever to get drinks/menus and waiting forever to get a check. I am actually very tolerant any other time, but those two times are the clinchers. At the Puritan, we waited a long, long time between *every* stage of our meal. As a minor side-gripe, we were seated right next to the door when there were plenty of other booths available,
Pros? Well, their mudslides are the size of your head and delicious.
But, perhaps the Puritan is resting on the laurels of its reputation in Manchester so they are getting complacent. They need to recommit themselves to good customer service.

This restaurant is so hugely popular, and it had been recommended to me so many times, I had to try it. I tried it three times. And I just won't go back. The food was alright, but I didn't get excitied about it, especially when I paid the bill. But the clincher was the service. In all three instances, our waitress was bordering on rude, or disinterested. We felt left to ourselves with empty drinks and needing service. The time between drinks to ordering to getting our food was unacceptable. Other families seemed to come and go in the time it took us simply to get our food. I just can't recommend it, but maybe we just had a bad experience. Three times.

If you spend any time in Manchester, you have to take a stop at the Puritian Backroom. Yes the chicken tenders are good, but so is everything else. In a hurry? Go to the front counter. The texas burger is great too. Want premium ice cream on a hot summer day? The Puritain is the place to go!

I completely agree with all the other reviews about the chicken tenders. They are amazing. If youve never tried the healthier version: as for the baked tenders. The sauce is different than with the fried tenders and is a somewhat healthier alternative. This is a must try. Also home of the far and away the best mudslide in the STATE. Often overshadowed by the chicken tenders, the mudslides are amazing. This is a family restaurant that is pillar in the community. Dont expect fine dining, but do expect a great meal in this landmark Manchester establishment. Also good to note that Adam Sandler frequents the restaurant whenever hes home in Manchester.

This restaurant serves a variety of dishes that everyone in the family will enjoy. Anything from pasta to steak to fish and chicken, all the dishes are like mom's cooking. Then to top it off the deserts are simply amazing.

Usually a wait to be seated. If not in a hurry the wait is worth it. Their chicken with their special sauce is the best. The service is prompt and friendly.

I dropped into the front of the restaurant, where they operate a takeout food and ice cream service and had terrific cookie dough ice cream at a very reasonable price. I have also eaten there and it is quite good.

If you visit this restaurant you have to try the chicken tenders and duck sauce. they are to die for and well worth the money. The homemade ice cream is well worth the extra desert.

This food here is affordable and plentiful. I love the ice cream choices as there are plenty and they are homemade. Try the pumpkin ice cream in the fall its to die for. If you are a drinker the mudslides made with ice cream are great.

If you are looking for good value and great food for you dollar, then the Puritan Backroom Restaurant is the place to go. A house specialty are the chicken tenders which are world class. Be sure to sample their homemade, hand packed ice cream as well.
PROS: Good food, good value
CONS: Often crowded
