She is by far the best vet I have ever been too! We moved out of state and I miss her so much, so helpful and great with our dogs.

My 19-year old cat has had major health issues for 10 years now, so I've seen literally dozens of vets and become pretty good at sizing them up. I've only been to Dr. Palmer once so far, so it's too soon to give her a 5-star, but she's well on her way to earning it.

For one thing, despite what some other reviewers have found, I've checked the prices of at least 20 vets in the Upper Valley area and found Dr. Palmer charges half to two-thirds less for an office visit and blood work.

I'm also saving money on prescriptions. Other vets insist you buy through them, but Dr. P is very comfortable with me finding the cheapest sources. (Through PetMeds, Drs. Foster and Smith, and Wedgewood Pet Pharmacy, I'm saving about $500 per year.)

Dr. Palmer is also less expensive because she, unlike everyone else I've seen, doesn't believe in unnecessary testing. I swear I've spent several thousand dollars on bloodwork, ultrasounds, and X-rays that told us absolutely nothing more than we knew already.

It didn't used to be that way. In the good old days, a vet could tell you with pretty strong certainty what was going on without testing, and when they couldn't, tests actually provided answers. Nowadays, though, it seems like most vets chose their profession because thar's gold in them thar pet owners and the tests those owners are willing to pay for.

But Dr. Palmer is a throwback to the good old days when people became vets because they loved animals. She sees herself as your partner in your pet's happiness and health, not the "expert" who will get offended if you have your own opinion. If a test is needed, she tells you why and answers your questions. She doesn't discount what you try to contribute about your pet's behavior and symptoms, nor does she get angry if you bring up what your online research.

For all these reasons, I highly recommend Dr. Palmer!

Live in Boston but travel to Dr. Palmer for vet care. She has been superb with our Lab. Quick to accurately diagnose problems and able to separate the serious from the mundane including over the phone consultation at midnite when our dog digested some of my medications. Upbeat, caring, and knowledgeable.

Beth is caring and compassionate with people and animals. We have outdoor animals (a pig and goats) and she's as great with them as with our dogs. When we had baby goats a couple of years ago, she seemed as delighted as we were!
We had to put down a dog a few years ago and she was so kind. She has made house calls when our animals have been too sick to travel. We may be leaving the area, and one of our saddest thoughts is not having Dr. Palmer anymore to work with our pets!

Dr Palmer has a great way of calming the nervous pet owner down. When my pup developed a hematoma after hernia surgery, and it started to bleed a little, she helped me get a grip by assuring me that "nothing's gonna fall out." I think she is really quick at connecting dots to make a diagnosis. I can't imagine going to anyone else.

We had one of our adopted dogs neutered at Kearsarge Vet Clinic. Everyone was friendly and kind. They do their own emergency services and are available nights and weekends for emergencies which is really imporant to us.

PROS: Available for emergency services
