its average itlaian for that is way over priced. the waitstaff is overworked and will forget you are alive. you can never get their attention because they wont look you in the eye. i have ate at basilico three times and had the same experience every time. i just moved to millburn and live two blocks away and wanted to like the place which is why i gave them three shots. im not fussy but 8 bucks for watered down mushroom soup and 24 bucks for a place of pasta is absurd. there are so many other good restaurants in and around millburn. pass this one up and find one that will give you more bang for your buck

Food was Good. I had a gazpacho that was excellent and pasta that was above average. Prices were reasonable, but service sucked.

On a Christmas eve this restaurant was running on gusto and went on thaqt great night for dinner for my anniversary. Verydisappointing. One waiter covering half the restaurant. Food came out wrong for my wife and cowboy steak was poor.
Although, I would not lose faith on this restaurant you have a greater margin of safety for lunch.

Went there last week for dinner. Our server was a very knowledgeable and friendly. He recommended the Osobuco which was superb! The atmosphere is great, made us feel like we were in the city. Go there if you want a great meal and even better service! We will definitely be back.

We had eaten here several years ago and found the pasta dishes interesting. Upon our return in May, we were totally disgusted. First of all, the waiters kept trying to take our dishes away from us before we had finished eating. I then understood why the woman at the table next to us had yelled 'I'm not finished" while we were making our menu selections. And the restaurant was virtually empty, so they weren't even trying to make room for the next seating. The menu offerings were very standard fare. Now I understand that this isn't Manhattan, but please folks a little creativity. The shrimp dish I had ordered was way overcooked and my husband's was tasteless. For a fine Italian meal when in the burbs head over to Cafe Arugala in South Orange: great menu, tantilizing specials, mouth watering meals (best calamari this side of the Hudson) and really great service. They never disappoint! And they know the meaning of al dente!

I went to Basilico with a large party and the service was terrible. I'm convinced that waiters don't even make an effort when the table size meets mandatory tip. Instead of introducing himself and asking if we were ready to order, the waiter came to our table after an hour and told us when we needed to be out the door for the next group. They were extremely rude to us throughout the entire night.

I thought that although the food was good, it seemed a little overpriced considering the portion size. I thought the service was good, and I did like the atmosphere.

This central location in Millburn, makes it the perfect restaurant to go to before heading off to a show at the Papermill Theater. Wonderful, "chic", ambience with delicious Italian food. Make sure you leave room for dessert!

A bonus is that it's a BYOB! I would highly recommend this restaurant - just don't forget to make reservations.

I'VE EATEN AT BASILICO'S A FEW TIMES. THEY ATMOSPHERE AND SERVICE ARE ALWAYS GREAT. MY LAST MEAL WAS DISAPPOINTING. THE SEAFOOD TASTED A LITTLE OFF, THE SHRIMP WERE ALMOST POPCORN SHRIMP AND THE BLACK PASTA WAS NOT WORTH EATING.

I had a reservation for 8 for mothers day. We showed up on time (early even) and were told by the snivelling man at the front of the house that there was no table for us. He then wandered off to not have to deal with us and the owner came up and told us that the party before us had come 30mins. late and they decided to seat them anyway. In any resturant that considers itself "high end" they should know this is unexceptable. The food is mediocre at best but in the suburbs they are able to take advantage of the fact they are one of the few slightly above average games in town.

Skip this ugly pretentious rat-hole and head for the city. You'll pay half as much and get nicer service.

Baislico is a beautiful restaurant located in the heart of Millburn's downtown. During summer they have dining outside under umbrellas. They offer sophisticated Italian menu. All waiters are so charming and speak oh, with an accent. Service is excellent. Dinner menu is expensive. Lunch is much better and you still get their fantastic dishes. Deserts are out of this world.
Atmosphere is very romantic.

PROS: Very elegant restaurant, fanatastic food
CONS: Limited street parking, municipal lot 2 blocks away
