Serving great steaks , seafood and spanish cuisine for over 30 years , Try the Sangria and there new Tapas menu. To really enjoy Meson Madrid you have to dine on the weekdays and ovoid the weekends , the weekends tend to be crazy packed

You won't believe this-I went out to dinner with my wife and her family to celebrate her birthday-We brought along a cake for the celebration-All was well until the staff served up the cake-Half inch slices for everybody-Where did the rest

We just had a great dinner there last week, after far too long a time off. Meson Madrid has excellent Spanish food, that is, judging by the one dish we always get: the Seafood Paella with lobster. I surprised the wife and took her there after she had a long day at work. Took along our kids and they had a ball too. At 6pm on a Friday night, we were ahead of the dinner rush, in fact the restaurant parking lot was so empty we thought they weren't open!

The appetizer was a sampler with stuffed mushrooms, oysters, shrimp, and you must have dinner with a pitcher of their sangria. Just one thing, and it was minor. Either the World Cup was still in progress, or a similarly important soccer match involving the waiters' home country was on TV, which brought several loud cheers from the wait staff gathered in the bar area. If we were a couple with more intimate ambiance in mind, it would have been an annoyance.

At peak times they offer valet parking and have a band of guitar players walking through the tables, serenading the guests. But the food is the draw and they never fail to please. Paella for two, the app, the sangria pitcher and two kid's meals ran us about 80 bucks.

Last winter, I did a takeout run to MM for that paella. The seafood laden version is going to run you about 30 bucks, but it will easily feed two people plus leftovers. Highly recommended.

Update: Did another takeout run Jan 2012, Paella Valencia with Lobster. Excellent once again. If you spend 25 bucks or more on takeout for four ( 2 of which are children) Skip KFC or Boston Market, and takeout the Paella from Meson Madrid!

Update AGAIN! After several takeouts, we ate in again - that's right, the paella again, but I also had the pork chops. Wow! And watch out - the Sangria is so fruity and delicious, you can get snockered without realizing it. With an appetizer and the wine, two adults and two kids were about 80 bucks - they didnt catch the humor in my offering to pay 80 pesos instead.....

Meson Madrid is a great choice for Spanish cuisine. The restaurant is located in a large rustic building on Bergen Boulevard in Palisades Park. Growing up in Palisades Park, it is the first Spanish restaurant that I had ever been too. It is still known as one of the best around for Spanish food.
