You should avoid this place at all costs. The service is subpar at best, you're not treated like your business matters and to top it all off have your haircut by an unprofessional staff.

I??ve been going to Sunny for Japanese Straightening after a bad straightening experience in a NYC salon almost 10 years ago and I won??t go anywhere else. They are right down stairs from my job. I??ve recommended about 10 other people from my office who go there as well for various services and everybody in my office, including my Boss loves that you can book your appointment on line from the website. The spa in the rear section of the store is absolutely beautiful and Yolanda does microderm treatments, Facials and massage for many of us in my office who I??m sure would recommend this salon / spa.

Worst experience ever!! They are rude and very unprofessional. They cannot even do a simple eyebrow wax without getting wax in my hair! When I mentioned it to the guy taking my money, who I think is the owner, he said that can happen

We would have to be crazy to kick one of our clients to the curb as this un-known person is suggesting. Who is this nut? I??ve dealt with a few nuts in my years of management, maybe this is one of them, but you see, that??s just it, neither the reader nor I will ever know who the Masked Marauder is.

Yes, this 2,000 sq. ft. Salon and Day-Spa, 27 years in business sees a lot of people and just the number of Japanese straightening services that we do is about 1,000 annually, but still, I would remember anyone ever coming to us with what was described and I definitely do not! Also, in regard to the fundamental protocol in which breakage occurs, this person is wrong.

And (by the way) who sounds like the aggressive one here? Who ever it is that is responsible for these reviews, I trend to believe, it is one of our local competitors that I happen to know, well (with the bad economy and all) I really do feel sorry for you, either on the verge of going out of business or, you are a real person who had a bad hair experience and somehow believes that we are responsible for it but I would remember what you described and I don??t because we would never let that happen.

Non aggressively yours,

Rob.

I am not the only customer to have had an awful experience at this place, also known as Hudson Hair. I got a TR, I was assured that my stylist was knowledgeable, and I suffered from severe breakage due to the service. When I called to speak to the owner, Rob, he never offered to have a stylist look at my hair to access or repair the damage. He simply denied that the breakage was from the TR done at his salon.

Frustrated, I searched the internet for resources on how to fix the damage. Ironically, I came across many complaints about TR breakage, and bad service from this specific salon. You can check them out at hairstraightening dot net and look under Liscio Japanese Hair Straightening, where at least 5 customers have complained about this salon.

One woman explains that she shows Rob a bald spot on her head, to which he takes no accountability. Another woman observes that the owner " had diarrhea of the mouth" and "is a belittling Mr know it all to his employees." Another writes in all caps "PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS SALON!!!!"

I don't know if Rob's 11 year old marketing director got wind of any of these posts.

In reaction to multiple customer complaints, Rob tries to combat the problem, by aggressively monitoring internet reviews that expose his poor service, as you can see from his post below.

Rob used to participate at the Lamas beauty message boards, until he was banned for posting harassing messages. That hasn't actually stopped him from posting under false names where the message title is usually the link to his salon's website.

I honestly think he has mental health issues, perhaps a personality disorder. You can see a few of his nonsensical posts on the lamasbeauty site.

And just so everyone is clear, breakage from a TR doesn't necessarily happen right away. When a stylist makes a mistake, like applying the solution too close to the scalp or improper ironing, a 90 degree bend can form on every hair strand near the root. Mine looked like white dots, that weaken and break off over time.

Why would I want to expose a guy like this? Because I paid several hundred dollars for the service, had my hair severely damaged, where it took 2 1/2 years to fully grow back. I also need to shell out money for treatments for the damaged areas, while it was growing back. If I had known that this place has a history of performing thermal reconditioning, where many customers complain of breakage, I never would have had the service done there.

My name is Rob and I object to the one sided nature of these reviews and I will point out how the integrity of a business can be misrepresented by anything from unrealistic expectations to a disgruntle internet vendetta.

By the way, it was my 11 year old daughter who found these - so called reviews - and she was shocked. She is a little investigator and I am glad she brought this to my attention.

One of the the (so called reviews) is located below. I reference the review individually, it puts a whole new perspective on internet reviews. I'm doing this because I believe in what I do and I believe in my staff and I would take this opportunity to submit my recommendation, that you also believe in my salon, as I am quite sure that we are one of the best salons in Hudson County New Jersey. In fact, please navigate to W W W . H U D S O N H A I R . C O M and check out our prices, stylists and take a general over-view of our operation as to help you arrive at your own determination about our 25 year service to the community.

(by lepeep717) She writes: I had a TR done, and several months later I had severe breakage because the stylist over-processed my hair by putting me under a heat-lamp while the TR solution was on my hair. Well, this isn't a normal part of the process, and I ended up with 25% of my hair breaking off, mostly at the crown.

((( OWNER REPLY ))): I would like to thank (lepeep717) for volunteering the words that negate her complaint. She claims that breakage occurred (several months later) If breakage were to occur, due to an over processed TR, it would have occurred within the first week. Further, the use of thermal heat lamps is totally normal when performing this service. She probably called another salon who told her something is wrong with using heat lamps of course, because they want her to spend her money in their salon.

She puts her own foot in her mouth. As a professional, I'm thinking, how can her opinion possibly be taken serious. Believe me, if our client has a genuine complaint with a stylist's work, one of my staff will do what ever is necessary to make that client happy, free of charge.

(((((( Further )))))), just to give you (the reader) an idea of what I go through on a daily basis with some people and their unfounded claims, perceptions which they are entitled to I guess? I had a guy walk up to me the other day after getting a haircut by one of my master stylists. This guy says something like, does this girl know how to cut hair? Now, I'm confused so I say, what do you mean? He says look at my hair as he is pointing to an area of his head, does it look even to you, he says. Now, I am a licensed cosmetologist for 25 years, specializing in men's haircut and I tell you, this was as perfect a haircut as I had ever seen. What is this guy, a fellow American who is down on his luck and thought he might try to see if he could get a free haircut?

Some people are a bit nutty. At any rate, watch out what you read these days on the internet.
