I love the Colorado Caf and so do all the regulars. We all want the Caf to be successful and prosper, but we do complain about the same music played over and over again. Saturday is Dance the only 16 step out there? Im sure we all can list many more examples of the same songs almost every night. Everyone I know agrees that some variation would be enjoyable. We all have our own preferences and opinions of music and so do DJs thats normal and to be expected. To please more people the Caf could advertise and have a different DJs on specific nights put it on the calendar. They could have Molly one night or Bobby Picone or look around for DJs from NY, PA and surrounding areas. There may be a following for a particular DJ and that would result in increased attendance. Call it a special event with DJ _________. Take a lesson from west coast swing dances attendance is entirely driven by whos the DJ? If you dont like the music you wont like the dance. Some line dances dont succeed because the musics horrible and the dance.

I love this place :-) I have been going to the Colorado Cafe for almost 15 years now, it's where I learned where to line dance, it's always a good time and I'm gonna keep coming back! Yes, attendance flucuates for various different reasons, but that's true about any place. I used to be a regular, going EVERY weekend (and also Wednesday nights) for many years and I wish nowadays that I could go up there more. It's a great place whether you dance or not, a place just to kick back with your friends, have a drink, listen to different types of music. As for the DJ's, I think they're wonderful! Especially Scott...he tries to play as many requests as is humanly possible before they close, couples AND line dances, and he mixes them up which I love :-) In fact, I love Scott as a DJ so much that I booked him for my wedding coming up in April, which I can't wait for, I KNOW he'll do an awesome job! So to you "haters" out there, get a clue, give the cafe a second chance...don't cast a place off just because of one experience that you had. And to all of you people that haven't tried it out yet...GO!

In response to the "unhappy patron"...I've been going to the cafe weekly for about 12 years or so, and I love it. I love it because there is so much fun to be had there, whether it's dancing, drinking, eating, or just hanging out with friends and listening to good music. Scott doesn't cater to his "groupies" (who, by the way, are his friends...the word "groupies" is more indicative of a group of fame chasing screaming giggling girls...not so much the case here). Additionally, Scott plays most, if not ALL, of those partner dances that were listed every Wednesday...there's only so much time in any given night, and anyone who would dj on a Wednesday night would have to balance country and non, in addition to making sure recently taught dances are done, along with the favorites we've loved and have been doing for years...which is what Scott does. This includes partner dances as well...and many of these partner dances AND line dances, Scott joins us on the floor for, in addition to keeping the dancefloor rockin' until 2am. So judging by how packed the dancefloor is, I'm gonna go ahead and say that people are pretty darn happy about being there.
The attendance fluctuates throughout the seasons, and always has. College students come and go. Many people head down the shore in the summer. Recently the economy has had an effect, but that goes for many places, not just the Cafe. Having been going to the Cafe for so long, and being a regular there, I can assure anyone out there that Scott is not the reason for lower attendance.
Overall, if you want a fun night out, with awesome people and great music, the Cafe is THE place to go. The staff is very friendly, as are the patrons. I've met some really cool people at the Cafe, and many have become great friends. I wouldn't change a thing about the place.
Simply put...the Cafe rocks.

I have been a loyal fan, and dancer of the Colorado Cafe for the past 12 years now. Not only is it like a home away from home but I have had the pleasure of working there for four and a 1/2 wonderful years. During my time there both as a patron and employee I was always treated with nothing but respect and love. There are not many bars that you can go to as a woman and not be afraid of leaving your purse to go dance, or putting your drink down for a moment. You can do both of those things here at the Colorado Cafe. The bar, dancehall and resturaunt are all clean and well mantained. Trust me I have seen behind the scenes too =O).
When you become a regular you begin to see the same faces every week and they truely become part of your family. Its also a great feeling to be able to go out for the night and not have creepy guys hit on you or anything like that. Most of them are really just LOOKING FOR A DANCE PARTNER.
During my duration of employment I went from waitressing to working in the DJ BOOTH as a tech. Now after reading the message submitted by the "UNHAPPY PATRON" I would like to claim that though it may seem like the dances you as for are not being played TRUST ME THEY ARE. I was one of the lucky ones to write down the log of every dance/song combo played for the night.
I also know All of the DJS very well and all of them do both couple and line dances..EVEN SCOTT who you said does NOT LINE DANCE!!!
Over all there are very few places where you can go and feel safe, welcomed and truly enjoy your night even if you are not a country fan. There is such an aray of music played throughout the night and the Colorado Cafe is always trying to think of new and exciting things to and bring into the club to meet all the wants and needs of the guests.
Over all i have brought dozen of friends into the Cafe who did not like COUNTRY MUSIC and still ended up having a blast and soon became regular customers. Its exactly like the TOBY KEITH song "I LOVE THIS BAR". Each person is a fixture there and they make the bar as wonderful as it is!!
Keep up the great work COLORADO when it comes down to it you cant please them all, but trust me you are coming damn close!!!

n responce to the "Un-happy Patron".......
I have been going to CC for 12 years now! Mostly on Sunday and on wednesday for the past 5 or 6 years. I think Scott does a fantastic job of juggling new, old, couple, and line dances. On top of that he is very approachable, if you'd like to hear something special, he does his best to get it on for you. Sometimes you just have to ask! As for that list of songs, I'm not really sure what he was talking about, i do majority of those dances and I've never been there a night when they werent played. Maybe he left too soon to hear the songs he wanted!
I think over the years the CC has been getting better and better! EVERYONE who works there is nice, helpfull, approachable, and in my opinion... extremely "on the ball" considering the things they have to deal with. Great job to all and keep up the good work!! And don't let guys like the "un-happy patron" stop you from doing what you do!

So in response to unhappy old guy....Scott doesn't line dance, he partner dances with his little "groupies". Knowing Scott's personality he'll take any chance to spin the dickens out of his little "groupies". So saying Scott doesn't play partner dances is like saying "B.M's" mother is a virgin. And if you don't like Scott then come on Saturday with Wild Bill.
If you've never been to the cafe before you'll meet plenty of interesting characters including "BM", Scott and his groupies to make you feel right at home. But most importantly you enjoy one of the Cafe's many great aspects which could be: line dancing, partner dancing, karaoke, comedy night, Texas Hold'em, billards, bull riding, rock bands and most people favorite thing...drinking.

In response to "Unhappy Patron" and my own opinion:
I go to CC every wednesday, saturday, and sunday nights, and I've been going consistently for over year. I travel a 1/2 hour in order to attend. While I know that on certain nights there aren't as may people there, its completely understandable. Certain times of the year, certain people are around. The college kids, the high schoolers, the vacationers... I know at certain times of the year, how many people will be there, i.e.right when college starts, sundays get smaller b/c all the kids have gone away. Its common sense. There have been wednedays where you can't find a place on the floor its so packed, and then other nights where it isn't so. But I find both kinda of nights are still fun and worth my time.
CC like any business has to deal with the economy. Patrons will sometimes have to decide "Do I drive out there, or do I sit in at home tonight?" I know personally, I will go out each time b/c I feel it is worth it. It's only $5-10, and you get a lot for your money, more than you would at a regular bar. Other bars you possibly pay a cover, then you have to pay for your drinks, and you bump & grind against strangers who are drunk.... IDK about you, but its not my idea of fun. At CC you pay $5-10, and you get a night full of country music, men ASK you to dance with them and then afterward say THANK YOU, and I find people enjoy it whether or not they know any of the dances.
You also have to be smart, if you get there well after 10, there's a good chance you missed some great dances, but you never have to worry, Scott will likely play them again. I try to arrive at 9, the lessons are done, the 2-step is done, and the real fun starts.
Also, CC is a social club, people go there to meet friends, enjoy great food, listen to music you don't get to hear everywhere. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I don't go there just to dance, I go to meet friends as well. If you go just to dance, and not socialize, of
As for Scott trying to keep his "female groupies" happy... we're friends of Scott, hell we probably met him there, we've been going for a while, maybe even years. Its not about keeping us happy, we just ask for songs and dances to be played. Its that simple. I'm sure if you went up to the booth and asked Scott to play a specific dance he would give you 1 of 2 responses: 1) I already played it, but I can do it again later OR 2) Sure, its coming up in a few songs.
CC is my favorite place, its safe, the employees are friendly, and learn your name, the atmosphere is unlike any place you'll find around (without driving an 1+ like MW or Prospectors). I have been going for over a year now, and I KNOW I will be going for years to come.

In response to the "Unhappy Patron", you hate it oh so much and yet drive so far and continue to come. There must be something you like about the place you like. I'm just sayin...Also, Those dances you listed and played EVERY WEDNESDAY and Sunday and even Saturday SO... if you're complaining they don't get played, than I don't know what club you're actually going to. If you're complaining they get played too much, well thats what gets requested. I'm not sure what you're problem is exactly. Every night always gets a little slow over the summers. People go to the shore and all. I also think there is this really strange thing going on with the economy and for some ODD reason, people may not be able to come out as much as often. *srugs* Again, I'm just sayin....
I love the colorado. I've been going for years now. There aren't many places like it around and they offer country, & non country dancing. how rare is that? Line AND partner... Most places are 1 or the other. thats it. Scott has being DJing for years and in my opinion, is obviously doing something right. Everyone has an opinion though.
The colorado to me is a great time to be had by all. Children, adults, teens... maninly anyone who is looking for a good time, will find it at the colorado. Anyone looking to go NOT have a good time, can obviously do that too.

I'd like to repsond to the "Unhappy Patron". The cafe is an amazing place that I miss very much. Before I moved from NJ I was a regular for 3 years. I was there EVERY Wednesday and Sunday night. The songs you listed are almost ALWAYS played throughout the night, and yes, some of them are played twice!! The DJ on Wednesday nights is great, he keeps the mood fun and keeps the dancing going all night. The only time he is out dancing is during some couples dances, and I rarely see him out on the floor for a line dance. I am not sure why you have a problem with the cafe on Wednesday nights seeing that the problem you listed doesn't happen!
I miss the cafe and recommend that every person go there at least once in their life, it's a great place to meet new friends and have a great time! There is something there for everyone and it's hard to find someone who does not enjoy their night there!
I will continue to frequent the cafe as OFTEN as I possibly can when I visit NJ, everytime I have a Monday off from work most of my friends know I will be in NJ JUST to go to the cafe on Sunday night!!

I've been going to the Cafe for the better part of 10 years now. When I first started it was just on an occasional Sunday night because I wasn't a huge country music fan. But as I kept going and time passed I started going on Wed and Sat nights also, although I don't go on Saturday's that much anymore for work reasons.
I love the atmosphere of the Cafe. I've met some great people and made some good friends up there. The employees (bouncers, bartenders, etc) are always the nicest and easy to get along. The food and drinks are good. I enjoy the music and the other activities held up there (bull riding, karaoke on certain nights). I hope to keep coming to the Cafe for many years to come.
As for the "unhappy patron", I can honestly say I'm not sure what he's talking about. Over half the songs he listed I hear on a regular basis on Wed nights, many are often played twice. Perhaps you didn't stay long enough, or were outside or in the other bar when one was played. But many of the songs you listed are played all the time.

I've been a regular at the cafe for almost five years. It is a great place to hang out with old friends and meet new ones. There is something for everyone there whether it be the line dancing, karoke, bull riding, or rock bands. The staff is great and most accomodating helping to make every time a great time.
A place everyone should go to at least one and give it a shot!

I was a "regular" at the Cafe for about five years and only started going occasionally (meaning a couple Wednesdays a month instead of every Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday) the last three due to work travel. I think the "unhappy patron" is smoking something. Each and every dance he named are played AT LEAST once during the night (more often than not they're played twice) and I have never seen the Wednesday night DJ line dance. Ever. He does partner dance, but it's never to the detriment of the music. There never seem to be enough men around willing to partner dance, so he's in high demand as he knows most (if not all) of them.
This is a great, safe place to go to meet new and interesting people and (as a single woman) I appreciate that. It's a very casual atmosphere and everywhere you look people are smiling and having a good time.
If you don't know how to line dance, they offer lessons (free with admission) earlier in the evening. As most people don't take advantage of these, the dancers on the floor are always willing and able to help you along if you're willing and able to try.
If country music isn't your thing, you can always visit the "back bar" which has kareoke, pool tables, live bands a couple times a week and several TV's for sports. There's also the mechanical bull which is hilarious to watch people attempt later on in the evening.

I have been frequenting the Colorado Cafe for over 3 years now, and the main reasons are the people (staff and DJs included), the diversity of dances, and the different styles of music.
I don't understand what the "unhappy patron" is seeing or hearing when they are going. Perhaps it is just a personal prejudice against Scott, who is BY FAR the best DJ at the Cafe, and if so that is a shame. As it's already been stated most of the couples dances mentioned in that list ARE played every night, and some of them twice! In fact I just read through and only 3 of them are not played EVERY night, but still with some frequency (16 step doesn't count because it's a line dance not a couples dance).
Keep up the good work and people will keep to pour in because the Colorado Cafe is truly a great place!

First of, I would like to start by commenting on the Unhappy Patron's review. If you really knew anything about the Cafe you would know that all of the dances you mentioned are played and sometimes more then once.
Anyway, I love the Cafe and have been dancing and enjoying it for 12 years. All of the staff make the Colorado Cafe a place that I will continue to go to as long as it is opened. The music, atmosphere and staff make the 3 nights a week that I go such a great time. Thank you all for that and Allen, you're doing a great job!!!

I absolutely love the colorado cafe! I am a regular for all three country nights (Sunday, Wednesday & Saturday.) I enjoy the staff, the DJs, the spacious dance floor, the food, the entire atmosphere.
However I do admit, I miss the admission being free for ladies on Sundays, but that is a small price to pay to have such a comfortable, welcoming place to dance & be with my friends for the night.

Hi
I have to say and I think alot of people agree that your Wednesday DJ Sucks!!!!! He care's more about His little girl groupies then keeping people on the dance floor. I know there are hundreds of couple dances out but there but these are the most popular ones that people look for all the time IMO:
Shooter
Shadow
Sun Stroll
Swinging Summer
Soaring Skies
Side Kick
Sweetheart Schottische
Sixteen Step
Blue Rose
Lindy Star Shuffle
Charleston Bump
Traveling Cha Cha
Rings
Tidal Wave
El Paso
Wooden Nickel
New York
I travel an hour to get there and if I can't dance it's not worth the trip. Here is a tip, Get rid of him and you might start packing the place again!!!! I remember wednesday being a great night for you guy's now it's empty, Why do you think that is the case?? As abusiness man I would want to know!!
A Very unhappy Patron

This place is so much fun. Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday are country nights, Thursday is Salsa nights, and Friday is rock night. They are all fun if you ask me! If you go on Sunday, however be prepared to fight some pretty young crowds, as this is the country for all ages night. Recently they raised the admission cost from $3 to $5.
