Ace Janitorial

We went there for lunch. I remember my husband being crazy about the mushroom ravioli. They didn't have just the normal fare. The menu was stocked with exciting choices. The restaurant is located on the corner of a strip mall. You would think it would be somewhere else with the quality of the food. Not to say it's run down, but perhaps the exterior could highlight what's inside. I do recall the price was a little bit on the high side.

Pastels Restaurant in Mahwah, NJ was the place we held our pre-wedding dinner with both our families. We managed to book an evening and reserve a section of the restaurant to ourselves.

The staff was very helpful in choosing a dinner menu for us. In fact, they made suggestions and assured us that they would take care of everything to our specifications.

As the food arrived, everyone commented on the portions. They were huge. The appetizers alone would have been sufficient for a good meal, but no, we were in for a real treat. The main dishes ranged from chicken, beef and fish, all served with generous portions. Needless to say a lot of doggy bags were taken home. And the desserts... oh my gosh, where did they expect us to put it away? Because it looked so good, we forced ourselves to try and finish it.

The decor is very trendy, almost cosmopolitan in nature. The low lighting helps to create an elegant atmosphere. They also offer night of entertainment with comics doing stand up routines, plus an all you can eat lobster night.

My only gripe is how unassuming the exterior is. We did a double take to make sure that this was the right restaurant for it looked very dumpy and run down. I would never have guessed it was Pastels if I didn't look at the name. Plus, it's always locatedin a strip mall in Mahwah which was also unexpected. But overall, the dining experience was fabulous.

Pastels Restaurant would get 5 stars on decor alone. Its whimsical, diffrent interesting, eclectic. They have huge eggplants, artichokes and other vegetable on the walls. The color and tone of the place is low key, softly lit, inviting.

The food is just marvelous. Beautifully, beautifully plated and large portions. The menu leans toward fish, lobster, seafood but offers other items as well with a selection of specials.

We had steamers as an appetizer, the broth was heavenly., hubby had a stuffed loin of lamb and I had fish with capers, tomatoes, and olives. All delicious and more than I could finish. Next time I save room for desert.

They have anall you can eat lobster nite -they have live entertainment-all done tastefully. We will definately be back.

PASTELS is a very impressive place both for the decor and the food. The decor is unusual, very Cosmopolitan.

The food is excellent, with a lot of unusual fish dishes. They can accomodate children and have a childrens menue. Children eat free until6:30 but I never see may children there.

Although this is a very sophisticated looking place they do all you can eat Friday night seafood nights for $29.00
