Always Do a Good Job with Fair Price
by Sandi J.
Have maintained my car there since they opened the store there. Very busy local place with good service. They started out only doing tires & oil repairs & brakes, then expanded into doing other work like starters, etc. Some more complicated repairs are a bit more pricey, but still fair. If they make a mistake (no one is perfect in hihg volume business), they fix it no problem. They've done all sorts of work for me with a positive outcome each time. Highly recommend.
Arrive early - or leave your car & put the key in the drop box - late in the day they get too busy.

Morons work at pep boy's Rt46 Parsippany
by mike D.
I asked about the cost to replace the muffler and exhust pipes on a 98 Honda Civic. The guy tells me it will cost between $400-900 dollars. The price at the shop next to me installed (they use quality parts) is $250. Other places charge between $189 - $225. I don't think pep boys would gouge people like that just that the person I spoke to knows nothing about cars, parts or labor. He also told me they don't do welding if it needs that. Dude, ever hear of hangers?
At least this moron prevented me from experiencing their quality work. LOL

exceeded the work needed and installed a nonstandard part that failed
by Herbert O.
I took my Saab 95 wagon in because the front brakes had locked. It turns out the brake booster had failed. Around noon, I called to see if the car was ready. They said it was almost ready, so I went over. At 3 p.m., the wheels were still off. It was ready around 4 p.m. Part of the charge included new rear brake pads and rotors. I asked about that. The mechanic said the old ones were rusty and the pads were nearly gone. My home garage in Vermont always notes when pads or rotors are about to need replacement, and they hadn't noted that, so I was suspicious, but I also needed to drive home, four hours away, so I didn't insist they remove the charge. As soon as I drove off, I noticed a hissing noise that hadn't been there before. Two days later, both the front and rear brakes locked. My home Saab dealer discovered PepBoys had installed a non-Saab booster, and it had already failed. They did say the same thing might happen to a Saab booster. They also said the hissing noise was a sign that something was wrong with the brakes, however. Price seems reasonable but not an especially good deal. Leaving out the rear rotors and pads, they charged only a little more for the repair than my home Saab garage did to replace what PepBoys had done.

Unprofessional
by Joe S.
Try as I might, I can't say a single good thing about those guys. From the monkeys in the garage, to the monkey garage manager who looks and acts like his mug shot should be in the post office and stinks of cigarettes, to the idiot salespeople who apparently have better things to do than help customers, I'd rather take the car, and will, elsewhere. This place should be razed. Anyone who is happy with their service should have their head examined. I can only conclude that the happy customer likes being ripped off.

Good Service. They always take care of you
by Mark H.
We use them for our fleet which means we have 7 cars which get heavily used in and out of their shop through the year. Good prices and good service. Once an a while they have to do a redo because a part is bad out of the box, but they will always make sure it is right. I have nothing but positive feedback to give on this shop. Also, we have never had our cars damaged there.

If I could pick a lower rating I would!

I couldn't be more disgusted with the Pep Boys employees in Parsippany. I took a car in for a simple bearings job. They told me it would take 2 and a half hours. No problem. 5 hours later I find myself standing in the parking lot still waiting...Still fine...I have time, annoying but ok. Upon checking out my car after the job was done I notice new scratches on my back lights. When I approach the manager about it, he tells me that there is no way his drivers could have done that and they would have told him if they had....yeah right! What's even more frustrating is that while I was standing and waiting in the parking lot I saw one of the Pep Boy's employees back the company van into another van behind him....luckily it was another company van so I didn't say anything. Obviously the manager said he wasn't notified about that one either...well no duh!My frustration doesn't lie with the fact that I didn't receive any free service or even the opportunity for them to cover the new scratches with primer to avoid rusting. The manager, Eli, didn't even offer an apology or the professional courtesy to accept even the possibility that his employee could have done this.
