Barnacle Bill's Restaurant

Sorry people but I have to agree with OVERRATED and What a MESS! The soups that we tried was a cup size ($4.50). The Base of the soups were very bland. The Manhattan Clam tasted as if the broth was a diluted tomatoe juice with clam broth added, filled with diced celery so much so that you had to FISH for the one clam that was diced and rediced. I sent it back. Sorry I was not eating or paying for such a scam. The two other soups, a try to be French Onion and Vegetable were tasteless if it were not for the onions in the first and the celery in the later. Must of been a sale at the market on celery. The French fries appeared double dipped and very dry. The onion rings were returned. The batter was thin and crumbling off at touch. Even the ice tea was weak and the glass had more ice than tea. The cornbeef in the Reuben was tough and chewy. And I know my Reuben's. Didn't even try to come close to the local diners and believe me there not anything like a Jewish Deli. I can't figure out with all the places to eat in Monmouth County, why anyone would settle for a Barnacle Bills.

Have been going to this establishment for 30 years. It is my favorite place. Don't miss ordering from the menu specials, the seafood is probably the best around. The steamers are second to none. Everyone always raves about their burgers. The service is always great! It is definitely worth the wait! Now they even have some music! Price wise you get the best bang for your buck. You can always get out of here without getting hurt financially. Almost forgot to mention they also have great desserts.

Overall i would say that the food at Barnacle Bill's Marina is good. They offer large portions and you definitely get bang for your buck. As you walk through the door can immediately notice the casual atmosphere with peanut shells all over the floor. Whether your sitting at the bar or at a table with your family you can grab a bowl of peanuts, start cracking them open and discard your shells over your shoulder without fear of dirty looks from the staff. Also there are some tables for two that sit right by the window where you can gaze out onto the Marina and watch boats pass. My only complain is that the lighting in the back part of the restaurant is sub par. I could not see what I was eating!!

One of the best bacon cheddar burgers in NJ. Drink some of their moderately priced beer to wash down your burger. They have great bar food like extra thick cut french fries and amazing onion rings. I've also had the reuben there, and it was a good 4 inches of meat and cheese piled on some really fresh rye bread.

I've also never seen "drunk college aged kids puking all over" but usually see an older yet casual crowd there.

For the laid-back, hard-working individual that just needs a place to relax and forget about the BS from the outside world, BB's is the spot. With the best LIT's around, Barnacle's will quench your thirst for relaxation with an unlimited supply of peanuts whose shells are welcomed on the floor and not the garbage. Nice view of the water with a chill atmosphere. Not recommended for the uptight snobs that posted the previous reviews.

I recently moved to the shore area and was told I MUST GO TO BARNACLE BILLS! Well, I found the experience dull. The music was pretty bad, atmosphere of a frat house, and the food was pretty weak. I will say the service was friendly and the food fresh. But the seafood I received came prepared covered in gravy with no textue, color, or flavor. One step above a greasy spoon diner.

CONS: Food and atmosphere

And Great Burgers. I love being able to eat peanuts and throw them on the floor. Their seafood is fresh and delicious. THe service is usually ok. The prices are reasonable.

It might just be me but the jam packed atmosphere with drunk college aged kids falling and vomitting all over did not very much suite me. I have been there multiple times and unless one of my friends i am ther with knows the bar tender it takes FOREVER to get a drink.... Don't let yourself get dehydrated... Try another place!
