I used to go to Blue Moon all the time, but wasn't overly satisfied with it the past few times. The food is good... far from authentic Mexican, but good. It is small and sometimes there is a wait, and they tend to pack a lot of people in there. I have had several times where there have been crying children which gets annoying.

Prices are very reasonable, and food is good. But don't expect a "real" Mexican food experience.

Blue Moon Mexican Cafe in Wyckoff, NJ is a nice small restaurant with a great ambience. It is always crowded whenever I pass by the place so I decided to check it out one day.

It is dimly lit to give it a relaxed, intimate setting and the food is good. One thing they don't do is hold back on the portions as it is plentiful. The staff provides the customer with friendly service, even adding their own reccomendations if you can't choose what to eat from the menu.

Even though it has the setiing of intimacy, lots of familes gathering to this place with their children in tow to enjoy a great family dinner. People are always lined up waiting at the door to get a spot in the restaurant. The alternative is to take out which they also provide as well.

The problem with this place is the location, in my mind. It's so tucked away at the back of a strip mall that

a) you don't even know that it exists; and

b) you can't even tell if it's open from afar.

If it was close to the entrance of teh mall, it would have made for a better visual setting.

PROS: Great ambience and food
CONS: Location is deceiving

Having eaten at all three Blue Moon Cafes in the area I find this is not my favorite. For some reason it just didn't have the feel of the one in Park Ridge. This one is smaller and obviously must have a different chef because the food was not impressive. Had this been the first one I'd been to I probably wouldn't go back.

The portions are large, everything is clean but it just didn't grab me. My guacamole was flavorless. This could have been the wrong season for avocado so this could be overlooked.

The staff were attentive and the decor was nice.

PROS: Clean good service
CONS: Not A+ in general
