its amazing how people just dont take the time to write something nice about a company who has been nothing but exceptional to me and all my friends that i recommend to go to midas in hawthorne, nj...they go out of the way to give great service at a fair price. this place does quality work and i would never bring my car anywhere else. its human nature to complain and once in a lifetime that someone praises you..i praise hawthorne midas..keep up the good work....

I recently took my car in to have the brakes done. A week and $750 later, I got it back and found that the brake pedal was still loose and the brakes were squeaking.
Actually, grinding is a better word for it.
So I called was told to bring it in so they could look at it.

After getting back the second time, the brake pedal was a little tighter but the grinding thing was still there.
So I called was told to bring it in so they could look at it.

After getting it back the third time, the pedal was the same but the grinding was actually worse.
So I called was told to bring it in so they could look at it.

Only this time, I decided to contact corporate headquarters and let them know what horrible service I had received.

So then I get an email from corporate letting me know that I would be getting a call from the shop. (Surely telling me to bring it in so they could look at it..)

Only this time, I decided to take it somewhere else and never go to Midas again.

I recently took my 2002 Lexus IS 300 for a routine oil change. After I received my car back, I wanted to change my air filter, as recommended by the technician. Sad to say that when I lifted up the hood of my car I was disappointed to see that the item to hold the "hood prop" had been broken. Instead, the "hood prop" was being held in place with a zip tie. The only way to get the "hood prop" down was to cut the zip tie with a scissor. I would not have been so disappointed if Midas would have told me and admitted to me that they broke the "hood prop" holder by accident in the first place. Instead it appeared Midas tried to cover it up. When confronting the person at the front desk, who appears to be the shop manager/owner, the indivdual said that they would not pay for the cost to replace the holder because the technician had said that it was already partially broken. I know this wasn't true because this was my first time not taking it to the dealership. The dealership, I would think, knows how to take down the "hood prop" of their own vehicles. The manager/owner further went on to say that "he believes and takes seriously his techinicians comments". Really and what about the customers comments and customer satisfaction? Was he calling me a liar? Two of the main reasons why I took my car there to get a simple oil change was because they advertised "#1 in Customer Satisfaction" and it was cheaper than the dealership (given that my car has over 130k miles). The latter is true but I guess thats what you pay for. Needless to say, I wouldn't take my car back to Midas of Hawthorne. From reading other reviews it appears most people are satisfied with the work they did on their vehicles but I would not recommend taking a luxury vehicle in for service as the techinicians may not have much experience with them. Granted, some may say and I do agree, that the item to hold the "hood prop" in place is not that big of a deal and a work around could be found, but the fact that they broke the item and made excuses for breaking it, is a strong indicator of how trustworthy this particular service shop is and reflects their type of craftsmanship!

I have been coming here for years. This shop has always given me a fair price for excellent work. The front desk workers are always pleasant and helpful. After the work is done it is always explained thoroughly and everyone is so nice. I would definitely recommend this shop!! :)

I have to say that I will never go back to Midas of Hawthorne again. I brought my Honda in for servicing and what was supposed to be a one day job turned into 4 days with no real explanation. After I picked it up, I then had to bring it to another service center because, as it turns out, Midas never fixed it. So I absolutely cannot recommend them to anyone.

When my wife needs maintenance work done on her 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport, Midas is the first place she phones. Located off of Goffle Road in Hawthorne, the Midas is professional, courteous, and efficient. We have used their services for many years and have no complaints!

Midas is open six days a week--call first if you wish to drop your car off for a tune up or oil change. They open at 7:30 AM so the earlier that you drop your car off there the better. There is a waiting area inside the office if you prefer to stick around and wait for the service to be finished on your car. Most often the work is completed the same day. They also sell windshield wipers, which is great if yours are worn down, which my wife's were a few months ago.

Midas advertises in local coupon mailings--you can get great deals on service packages, oil changes, and brake inspections. Personally, I feel that this Midas lives up to its reputation for fast, accurate, and customer-friendly service.

PROS: Fast service, good prices
CONS:
