You find a salon that does your hair right, you tend to stick with it. My wife has been going here for years. If you're not mired in political correctness, you'll recognize that in many well populated areas, there's ethnic cultures that has reputations for being exceptional at their craft. We all know the best pizza and pasta dishes has Italians making it, the best Chinese food is by those native to China etc... and while anyone can open a deli, a diner, or a landscaping business, there are tendencies to link ethnicity to the quailty of the products or services rendered. That may not be the case in remote rural locations, but in urban centers like NYC metro, where diversity is abundant, it's hard to argue against the typing of Korean nail salons as superior. Probably dates back to the trade of immigrants in early New York. The best place for pickles, or shoe cobbling, suit tailoring...etc

Whew! I went a long way to say that such might be the case with Santa's Beauty Salon. They are largely Dominican and seem to have a flair for what my wife wants. It may not be reflected in the hair styling reality shows we see, or the sister golden hairs that still carry the mantle of beauty (even if just barely),

They are at full tilt at peak times, but she has been able to fit in if a special occasion arises that triggers a need for emergency action. Worth a look, I'm told.
