If I could give this place no stars I would. I believe that the parents writing these spectacular reviews aren't really paying attention or are nave. Lini Vanhise is EXTREMELY unfit to run a business of this kind. Granted, I do believe that she could've been a wonderful person 25 years ago but today she is insane. Parents, when she tells you that she is a firm believer in discipline what kind of discipline do you think your child is receiving? Is screaming in their faces and slamming their hands down out of frustration something you allow? I hope not. I was there inquiring about my child starting there and she took me on a tour of her place. Her staff was nice but to me they looked over worked. In the Nursery room there was ONE person in there with about 11 or 12 infants. She told me she helped out in there and that the girl wasn't alone but as we stepped out of that room.... the girl was alone! I looked over into the other classroom where she told me my child would go next and I saw another woman ALONE, with about the same amount of kids and a red head little boy propped up in a high chair. The bathrooms were disgusting, I heard one of the women say "Don't flush the toilet!" "Why would you flush the toilet?" So she expected my child to urinate over someone else's? The staff looked completely MISERABLE. I cant even believe that she was really about to take my child in to be neglected! Every single classroom in there was over ratio. The way she spoke to her staff was absurd. The things I heard about this place was unbelievable I had to go see how crazy that woman really was. I mean for goodness sake, her husband was a judge why doesn't he see that everything is all wrong? Why wont he put a stop to this? There is NO WAY that you can run a business and not have to step out of the room and leave that girl in there with all those babies ALL alone. I can understand it gets hard to hire people and trust in people but look at her records. She has hired people but she doesn't know how to treat them! She's big on lying by the way. The point of this review was to give you parents insight on what's going on in the place that's "so cheap" you're risking the negligence of your child. Ask her to see that mop, ask her to see the records of the people she hired. ASK HER STAFF how she treats them. ASK QUESTIONS. Ask to see that dirty mop, and the black water they mop the floors with. ASK to see the bathrooms. Ask her why she recycles utensils to be shared over and over by these children. Take a look around and you be the judge. I'm not sorry I won't be sending my child there to be screamed at over nothing, to be sick all the time, to be neglected no thank you. Btw, if you're child is advanced and prepared for kindergarten ask her how she got them there, discipline? It's just not worth it for me. I love my child.

My children went to Crayon's for over four years. I found the staff to be caring, considerate and lovely. Ms. Lini and her staff took great care of my children. As a parent who is very selective when it comes to childcare (my daughter has a rare medical condition), Crayon's exceeded our expectations. Both my children were more than prepared for school. We are totally indebted to Crayon's and are so thrilled to have had them as part of our family.

I am a forever grateful to Ms. Lini and her staff, mother of a child that has been at the Crayons School since she was 2 years old and is entering kindergarten in the fall. Besides the terrific care, the exceptional handling of the kids (hugs, positive reinforcement, LOVE (who would have thought!?), my daughter is entering kindergarten well beyond the median knowledge of a 5 year old. The skills and abilities that she was taught at Crayons made her a phenomenal little girl and soon to be an even greater kindergartener. Since I work full time, I relied on Ms. Lini and her staff to shape my daughter into a productive member of her community (i.e. school, friends, relationships, manners) I feel that I have made a great choice sending my daughter there and I personally know of numerous parents that feel the same way.
I feel sadden that previous comments focus on an elderly woman working there. How ignorant of you. Obviously, the education you received didnt take you far, if this is your focus. Your bitterness and ignorance is obviously personal and has nothing to do with how excellent and unmatched Crayons Nursery School is.

Thankful & appreciative mother

I have no idea what is going on with the person who wrote the negative reviews but I think they are unwarranted. In the time I have had my son there I have seen none of these things and I do make random unannounced visits to the center. My son loves the staff and has never had a problem. They take good care of him and have taught him so many things that I am constantly amazed by his learning. They are fair in pricing, in fact better than most nursery schools in the area, they teach the kids respect and caring for eachother and they care about the children. In fact the older lady that was referenced Elayne was my sons first teacher when he arrived and the school and she took the extra time to give him the love and reassurance that he needed to feel safe and secure. He adores her.

I am the older woman who works in the toddler room. I was very upset by inaccurate statements made. I am extremely grateful to Crayons for not foolishly dwelling on my age but recognizing my desire & ability to treat children in my care as if they were my own grandchildren & not some kids assigned to me for daycare! The employees at this school are patient, loving & care deeply about the children in their care. School is kept extremely clean as a daily practive not an exception. Children are kept busy, enjoy their projects, crafts, & outside play time. If a child was abused, as was stated in the other irresponsible comments, the child would not show such love & devotion to the teachers, want to spend time with the teachers & be as loving as these children are everyday. An abued child would withdraw & keep to themselves which is Not the case. The kids cannot wait to show us what they are wearing, their new shoes or sneakers & any new books, etc. they have brought to share w/their class. They enjoy their time with each & every teaher. These are definitive signs of positive socialization & a strong sense of self esteem which are perhaps the main objectives of any good pre-school experience. When the children leave this school for kindergarten, they are knowledgeable, confident, remarkably developed in certain skill sets & well on their way to critical socializaton. Intelligent & responsible adults do not make assumptions, outrageous statements & unsubstantiated allegations about people & a school they obviously know nothing about. TAKE A LESSON FROM THE CHILDREN AT CRAYONS, FOR THEY SEEM TO BE MORE MATURE & RESPONSIBLE!

My daughter is 4 years old and has been going to crayons since she was 2 1/2. When looking for a school, I looked for cleanliness, good pricing, education, friendliness and a feeling of home. Crayon??s had it all for me. The pre-school is cleaned multiple times a day, the pricing is great, all staff members are friendly to me and my daughter as well as the other children, everyone who works at Crayons are educated well to work with the children. Not only does my child learn great English grammar but she also learns Spanish and Chinese. Crayon??s feels like a little family to me, I feel at ease when I go to work because I know my child is in great hands. The first comment that was made is obviously false! Every parent will tell you that this pre-school is nothing like the 1st comment depicted it. If I ever had another child, my child without a doubt would go to Crayons. I have recommended so many friends to Crayon??s pre-school, I work in a school and i love everything that Crayon??s does for my daughter.

Let's start with how the people that work at Crayons Nursery School (118 Federal City Road) treat their children is frightening; they abuse them. I felt that the enivornment was not appealing at all. The director Lini S. Van Hise needs to get herself a new job her fees are outrages. The staff members are less than friendly. Lini hires elderly people to take care of toddlers I wouldn't want an elderly person to take care of an over active toddler. I had to remove Jermery from the school because I felt that they were cheating they over charge and then they disputed the charges. They used to have good people working their but I don't know about now. Have you seen the rug they have Lini the director is so cheap instead of buying a new she walks around with a fur coat, she should think about the appearance of the school. Her Licence should be taken away from her.

Business Response:

This is a bogus review submitted by a former employee with mental problems. My wife and I have operated Crayons for 21 years. Anyone is welcome to visit during normal business hours to review any aspect of our business. (Note the mispelled words and improper grammar.)

I have seen the people that work at this instution and I did not believe in my eyes how they treat the liittle kids and how they treat the new worker and it is not a pretty sight. Business Response:

This bogus resview was submitted by the same former employee with mental problems that is referred to above. (Notice the spelling and grammar errors here also. This person has serious mental problems.)

I had a very good experience: it was for my french little girl aged 2 1/2 when she started. They took care of her and she learned a lot. She entered at school very well prepared, with a lot a knowledge. It is not a to big structure and this is a good transition between home and the primary school.
