Of all the indian cuisines I've been to, Pooja is definately one of the best. The restaurant is small but the food makes up for it. The service is fine, I did not have a problem with it, but then again, when the food is as delicious as it was, nothing else mattered to me. I definately recommend this restaurant. What to order: Vegetable Pakora, Pina Coladas, Garlic Naan, Paneer Tikka Masala, Malai Kofta, Daal Makhni, and Rice (obviously)

I used to go here every few months when I went to Rutgers. The service was definitely hit or miss, but the food was always decent & don't remember having any bad experiences there. The prices were pretty average for Indian food. It's definitely a place you want to give a shot when you have an Indian food craving.

Great food, great atmosphere! BYO! We have been to nearly every Indian (and we are not Indian) restaurant in Central and Northern NJ. The food here is equal or better than some of the more "upscale" places such as Begum in Madison, or Neelam in Berkeley Heights...forget Raagini -not that good, and not byo! The only food that compares is Star of India in Kenilworth. Plus, they are LGBT friendly. Cant beat it! Try before heading to The Den......or L Bar.

Good food - appetizer was over fried - spinach, eggplant and tandoori chicken very good. Waiter was horrid - indifferent taking our order, rude bringing food, never brought back corks from wine, horrible ammonia smells from kitchen, never asked if we wanted dessert just was given check. He then proceeded to count money at the table blocking one of us in the booth as the lady was trying to get out to use the restroom. She asked to get out three times but he would not move until he finished counting the bill. The server who was filling our water glasses was very nice but the waiter should be fired. Treated us like dirt -restaurant was not full or that busy. The table of men next to us seemed to receive excellent service. Would not go back.

Went on a Friday night - not crowded - seated in booth - near swinging kitchen doors (big mistake). Fried appetizer was over cooked. Spinach and eggplant dishes were great - as was tandoori special. Service was terrible - waiter was indifferent while taking order -walked away before we were finished ordering. Never brought corks back for the wine. Never asked if we wanted dessert, just brought the check. Watched and stared while we exchanged gifts. Ammonia smells were overpowering from kitchen. When we put money in bill he ran over and immediately started counting it at the table as one of the ladies was trying to get out of the booth. She asked 3 times to have him move so she could get out but he would not. He did not leave until he was done counting. No one was ready to leave or had their coats on. The table of men next to us did not have this happen to them. This was unbelievable. Would not go back and would not recommend to anyone because of the service.

For indian food its a good one in this area..Some times i go there ... but the curries are too oily so it might not be a good choice for Health but once in a while for taste changing its good..
