Dr. Batts treats both his patients and their owners with the utmost respect for variable constitutes with considerable well-being. I find he has compassion and devoted care.
I've been to many clinics that don't exhibit compassionate qualities, only exhuberant charges!

Dr. Batts is one of the best vets you will ever be lucky to come across. His practice is basic, not high tech, but he is one of the best surgeons around. He does spays the British way (he was trained in his native country) - with a tiny incision that allows the cat to recover extremely quickly. We have been using him for quite some time now for our cat rescue and have been very pleased with the quality of work. He calls to follow up on each patient to make sure they are doing okay.

Aside from the regular spay/neuters, he has done surgical procedures with such precision that you cannot tell anything was ever done! I'll bet he does a mean cross stitch that anybody's grandmother would be proud of. ;)

Being one of the volunteer vets for the county wildlife center, he has plenty of experience with all kinds of animals and can diagnose illness quite expediently. His practice isn't fancy. He will refer clients out for more complex tests when needed.

His fees are very reasonable compared to most vet practices in the area. He tries to keep costs down for his patients, but does not skimp on care. If your animal needs bloodwork, etc. he does not require additional exams, merely a blood/urine draw on premises.

The down side is...
Getting an appointment in an emergency can be next to impossible unless you manage to catch his staff when not busy. He is quite booked up, but can usually accomodate you the next day. Getting in last minute on the weekend is tough simply because you can't leave a message. However, if you call and leave your contact number on his caller ID, he will usually call you back. His receptionist leaves much to be desired...not much in the way of people skills. His practice is in a semi-seedy neighborhood on the outskirts of Trenton. If venturing into the hood in your shiny new sports car isn't your cup of tea, you can go to his other practice up river in lovely Frenchtown, NJ. It is rather minimalistic as well, but adequate and certainly much more pleasant assuming you are up for a scenic drive.

He is a true old-fashioned vet, a vanishing breed amongst the new corporate climate that has overtaken veterinary care. He is a real animal person who truly cares about all creatures. He has such a wonderful way with them and goes out of his way to help pet owners. He has a great sense of humor and wonderful personality. More vets should be like him.

I am so grateful to have discovered Dr. Batts. I have complete confidence in him, which is far from what I can say about many other (expensive) vets I have used over the years. He is a blessing to the world. I hope he never retires because he is one of a kind.

I have had the pleasure of dealing with Dr. Batts and his staff and find them truly womderful. Yes, there were times when tones were short and curt but they are trying to deal with ALOT of different paitents, both 2 and 4 legged. Mrs. D has retired but she really is a doll, once you know her.

Dr. Batt's clients are the furry ones, the humans are the appendages! lol He cares about each and every one of his paitents and their well being.

I have called the office asking for help with my puppy and the receptionist I got on the phone was so unhelpful and didnt seem to care if my puppy lived or died. I have heard great things about the vet. But also heard that the adminstative staff is horrible. I really hope they are as good as everyone says. I will keep everyone updated!

Dr. Batts is an amazing vet and I like him very much - as well as his vet assistants. Administratively though, it's kind of a nightmare. The elderly lady who sits at the desk is less than helpful, and it's difficult to get ahold of the office during office hours, since they let the answering machine pick up, and they will not let you leave a message. They need to get it together from an administrative perspective.

Dr. Batts is the greatest, a true animal lover. He understands the attachment us humans have to our "furry" children.

Dr Batts is a great Dr and Animal Lover! He has been the only Vet to keep his practice in the Urban section of Trenton. Many of the low income residence would not have been able to seek veterinary help for their pets if he hadn't. Thank You Doc for choosing to stay when you could have gone outside the city and had a fancy office with fancy prices. He REALLY cares!

We have taken our cats here for about 20 years. Dr Batts is such a caring person. You can tell he is an animal lover. His practice is not in the greatest area of Trenton but we continue to take our animals there because of him. He's a great veterinarian and he gives animals wonderful care. At the same time, he does not hesitate to refer a patient to a specialist if he feels it is appropriate. Note: His usual secretary is sometimes a bit abrasive (she's an older woman - I'm sure she deals with some horrible people often so that may be why) but his other staff is always very nice and caring.
