I went to Bernard's for the first time (I had won a gift card at a raffle) for a pedicure. I arrived a few minutes early and was greeted promptly by the gentleman at the front desk. I waited for about 10 minutes and then was taken back to the pedicure room. The technician was very friendly and talkative. My pedicure was very relaxing. The chair actually gives you a mini-massage while the technician is working on your feet. Nice!!! Overall, I was satisifed with the service I received. The only thing I didn't like was that the charge for the pedicure ($40) was less than the amount of the gift card ($50) and they told me they could not give me change. I asked if they could just give the $10 difference to the tech as a tip and again I was told no. So, basically I ended up leaving $10 on the table. Oh well, live and learn. The salon itself is a little better than average. Not as high-end as I expected. Although personally, I prefer Rizzieri's because their atmosphere really makes you feel like you're in a high-end salon and the people are more welcoming and friendly.

The receptionist area needs customer service training. They are so rude over the telephone and in person. Lack professionalism and overall customer service. Salons/spas are a dime a dozen, and your right I do not have to come here but the group on's are right up my alley. Really reconsidering this salon group on and all. No one wants to feel unwelcomed! Its Your Job not mine. You need customers for business and referrals. Not happening if I'm not happy.

I too had bought a groupon for Bernard's and have been there before. While the service is good, it is not a very welcoming salon and the prices tend to be high so I only go there when I have a groupon, I had forgoton I bought one in the summer and got an email from groupon that it was expiring soon. So I call to make my appointment for later this week for a massage, mani and pedi. The woman who answered the phone sounded half asleep and when I mentioned I had a groupon and needed to make an appt for those services her response was...yeah we are booked for massages until the end of March. I said well my grouping exp next week....her response...well we aren't honoring them past the exp date you had 6 mos to use it. I said what about your other location? Yeah they are renovating their spa so they can't do massages either. Well what am I supposed to do, I think your groupon says you can use it for the value you paid for.
Horrible customer service! I mean do they want to retain clients? I work in customer service and was appalled. I'd rather through my $60 (which I work hard for) in the garbage then subject myself to that kind of service. Will never go there, nor recommend them to anyone. Disgraceful!

i bought the massage and facial groupon without reading reviews. when i was ready to use the groupon, i took a look at the reviews and was like, "oh, crap" and was not looking forward to using it, so i wound up using it the day of expiration. i have to say that i was pleasantly surprised. my facial was pretty good. i wasn't told what the products were, but i didn't ask either. i was given a consultation and the facialist complemented me on my skin, which was nice. i had kristen and she was really nice and i recommend her. my massage was terrific though. i had elsa. if you go, try to get her. she was wonderful. i asked her to really try and loosen up my tense muscles and she sure did. i was so relaxed, i couldn't even put the tip in the little envelope or sign my name on the slip. i had to wait in my car for a bit to snap out of my Zen mode enough to drive home. the massage and facial were worth the money. here's why it got 2 stars knocked off. the ambiance is not relaxing at all. the walls are paper thin and the salon is super busy and you hear everything, from girls gossiping in the halls to doors slamming to hair dryers to phones ringing. another reason, the wait between the facial and the massage was long (~15 minutes) and uncomfortable. i was there in a super crappy robe in the super bright hallway on a bench and i felt exposed and felt embarrased when other clients, including men, were walking past me. i would like to see more privacy given to the clients and a waiting room would be nice, a dark private waiting room. i emphasize dark because coming out of the facial was like walking out of a dark cave into bright daylight, i was almost blinded. there should also be more separation between the salon and the spa. they should remove the glass partition and put up a real wall and soundproof it. definately go for the facial and massage though. i just got this today. still too zen to use proper grammar, spelling, and capitolizing the first letter of my sentences and the letter i when i mean me. thank you kristen and elsa.

I LOVE this salon! At previous salons I have had some terrible haircuts so I came here hoping to get a quick fix and it turned out to be the most wonderful salon I have been to! The staff is always knowledgeable and knows how to fix any haircut, no matter how bad mine was. I refuse to go to any other salon now and put my trust 100% into Bernard's. I have always found the receptionists to be friendly and welcoming. I also frequent the salon for manicures, LOVE LOVE LOVE! Every experience I have had with this salon has been great overall!

I also purchased a facial & massage groupon. The massage was mediocre at best. It did nothing to relieve any of my muscle tension. I would rate it the worst of massages I have gotten. The girl doing the facial didn't tell me about any of the products that were being used or ask me about my skin. I had to meet people after my appointment & realized that she had left product on my face...a lot of product...there was some on both sides of my nose/ next to both ears/ near my hairline and on my eyebrows. I have had 1 terrible haircut and several TERRIBLE massages at Bernard's in Cherry Hill. My husband purchased a $250.00 gift certificate for my 30th birthday and he thought that gift would be a nice way for me get some much needed time away from our 3 and 1 year old boys. Making time for me is hard in the first place, so when the first haircut I scheduled kept me waiting for 45 minutes, I was very unhappy. Apparently there had a been a difficult customer keeping my scheduled stylist, but no one at the front desk seemed to care that I was waiting there for so long! After 40 minutes, I said I was leaving and they magically found a substitute stylist and had ONE OF THE WORST HAIRCUTS OF MY LIFE! It was truly horrible -being uneven and long stray hair strands everywhere! I cried when I returned home. The masseurs seemed inexperienced and didn't make my aching back feel better. It was more like an oil rub down that had no consistency or methodology. I have had many massages in my life and those that I received at this salon were some of the worst. The massage rooms were very noisy and I could hear everything going on in the whole salon. The tables in the rooms were squeaky, so during my "massage" I heard squeak, squeak, squeak the whole time. I believe their "spa" section was a complete afterthought and was constructed poorly. The music was not relaxing, but rather irritating. In conclusion, I am now 32 years old and still have money on my 30th birthday gift card! Now that is saying something! Also, prices are outrageous for sub-par products. Perhaps since Bernard's already has our hard earned money, it doesn't matter that I will not use the remainder? Sorry to be so harsh, but this is what I experienced.

Since the birth of the Thomas Bernards Hair salon, Now called Bernards, I have always, and I mean always been treated with the best of services. The staff, management, and overall ambience is upscale.I have been to quite a few salons, but this one is one of the best in South Jersey. Great job Anthony! Keep up the good work. So far I have to rate my experience at Bernard's in Marlton very favorably. I was in the area and called to see if I could drop in and get a haircut. (I've been looking to change my style for years, and no stylist came up with anything.) Well, my stylist (Nicole? She displayed a level of knowledge and detail that impressed me, and I don't impress easily. She helped me with the "makeover" I'm doing on myself, and I walked out extremely pleased. I purchased a groupon for $65 for a 1 hour massage and a 1 hour facial. Each service was only 45 minutes. The girls who did the services were very nice. I have no complaints about the actual services except that they were not the full hour.

However, the front desk staff at Bernard's is horrible. The do not put in any effort to be friendly, they barely look up to speak to you. For a "high end spa" they should be friendly and nice at the desk.

I do not think they should call themselves a day spa either. They do not have a changing room, so after my facial, I put on a robe and had to take all my stuff with me to the next room. It is also very loud and you can hear everything going on outside the treatment rooms. They had no problem yelling down the hallway of the treatment area. Not exactly the best way to relax.

I go to the Bernards in Marlton. Karri W cuts and colors my hair. She is wonderful. She is very sweet. She does an excellent job, no brassy blonde color, just a very flattering blonde. I adore her and wouldnt go anywhere else....even though there receptionists are not the friendliest or brightest.

I have been a loyal customer with Bernards Nail Salon for 5 years Throughout this period of time, I have noticed a major change on how this service area has been represented. The selection of nail polish has declined,as well as the general attitude of the establishment. I feel that no matter how many times I have complained of this fact,it has fallen on deaf ears. Prices are high,compared to other good salons using the same products in the area. My advise,until management wakes up,Save your Money. You work hard for it. I reluctantly return to this salon & that is only because of Kristen; she does the best job on my eyebrows. Other than that the customer service is absolutely terrible. When I schedule an appointment, the receptionist is rude and short....like it is a privilege that I am calling to give them business. I currently work in a laboratory at prestigious university & would look ridiculous dressed to the 9s for a normal work day; but that doesn't mean I should be treated as some sort of scab on a festering wound when I arrive for by appointment. They still cannot manage to correct my name in their system, even though I have written it for them multiple times. My name is a fairly average name too, so there is no excuse. I reluctantly return to this salon & that is only because of Kristen; she does the best job on my eyebrows. Other than that the customer service is absolutely terrible. When I schedule an appointment, the receptionist is rude and short....like it is a privilege that I am calling to give them business. I currently work in a laboratory at prestigious university & would look ridiculous dressed to the 9s for a normal work day; but that doesn't mean I should be treated as some sort of scab on a festering wound when I arrive for by appointment. They still cannot manage to correct my name in their system, even though I have written it for them multiple times. My name is a fairly average name too, so there is no excuse. I wish that my esthetician would find employment at another salon, so that I don't have return to this dreadful place.

I have been a client at Bernard's for almost 10 years and I have to say it is a wonderful salon. Everyone there is friendly and talented. I try to use all the services when I can, but mostly I do waxing and nails. Erika has been doing my nails forever and she is AMAZING!!! I saw the review from the woman who said she had a 12 minute manicure and laughed...If it was a 12 minute manicure, I'm sure it was great. My nails never chip and I always get compliments on how beautiful they look. I use pretty much everyone in the spa for my waxing and love them all. Bernard's is the salon to use when you want the best in quality and service.

I went to Bernard's for awhile until I got tired of the poor service: Reception staff was very unprofessional - I was literally shoved out of the way so that all the receptionists could greet and fawn over a Flyers' wife. Did she really require three staffers to escort her into the salon?

Colorist Vicki could NOT get the brassiness out of my very dark brown hair (she insisted it was my Mediterranean heritage), yet another salon charging HALF of what Bernard's charged was able to do it - and my color looks terrific.

Manicurist Erica had me in and out of her chair is less than 12 minutes (I was NOT getting an Express Mani) - so much for some relaxing pampering! I felt like she was in a race to get back to reading her magazine!

The massage was wonderful with Rachael D. The staff was so friendly. The shampoo ladies now how to give a great shampoo!!! My haircut with Che Che was great! A real pro in the business!!

no mention of age Thomas Bernard new how to treat clients and staff alike, to bad his establishment is getting a bad name because of self centered egotistic staff, There are very committed and skilled professionals at Bernard's, like Alfred and Maurine just to mention a few. It may be in a strip mall location but they do an awesome business, hopefully the attitudes mentioned in previous blogs of the people who work there will change with maturity and dignity. that's what makes all the difference.

I went in for a birthday massage and a manicure. I will say the massage was WONDERFUL. I think his name was jeff.. Then i went for my manicure.. I waited in my chair for 5 minutes for her to come back- when she came back she didnt even look at me- just started to talk to the girl next to her. I definately felt like i was being rushed. 4/16/08 @ the Cherry Hill, NJ location - Got the 60 minute signature massage which provided neck-to-toe, long stroke massage for $60.00 (not incl. tax & tip). Mellissa was my masseuse and she was very professional and on the dot 60 minutes. I didn't have to wait once I got to my appointment (i was a few minutes late myself). The front desk girls seem a bit catty, but I was so relaxed from the massage it didn't bother me. I would have given a rating of 5 stars if they massaged the upper neck and head/temples.

The location may have been renovated since the last poster commented on the small space, cause the current space it has is pretty large and open.

The prices for the massage seem pretty competitive with normal salons. I think Bernards tries to portray themselves as a high-end salon, but its OK, but thats cause I'm a New Yorker and prefer the best.

The best part of the service is that it is open until 12AM!

On Saturday, March 22, 2008 I went to Bernards as a treat for myself. My husband set the appointment up. I was thrilled with the idea of a spa treatment after spending the past month in and out of the hospital because of migraines.

I walked into the place and was greeted with a smile, but I started looking around and the place just seemed very cramped even in a big place, and the floors were just concrete. No carpet or tiles. I did think to myself for the price they charge you would expect the place to look nicer.

I will admit I did love the massage, I was very happy with that part of the treat. The person who did it was professional, kind, and helpful.

I was not as impressed with the pedicure or refill I had done. I usually get a pedicure once a month and a refill every other week. When they did the pedicure I felt I was being rushed through the service not allowed to enjoy this part. The plastic covers where your feet rest was cracked and in need of replacement.

Well after the pedicure they did my refill. I will say they had to fit the refill in since hubby booked the appointment as a manacure. He did not know the difference. The person doing my nails rushed to get my nails done before closing time. I felt I was an inconvience to them and did feel let down about my special treat day.

Up above I mentioned that I get a refill every other week. On Sunday, March 23, I woke up and started to take one of my meds. When opening the bottle, one of my nails cracked in half. On Monday I had 2 more nails crack and then today I had another 2 crack. What I did was trim the ragged edges off on3 of those nails. The fourth one broke all the way to the skin line and is very tender now to touch. The fourth nail started to come unattached close to the cuticle area. I have been having my names done professionally for about 4 or 5 years. I have never had this kind of problem.

I know I will never go back there again and will not refer friends there. My husband drove me 40 minutes to get to this place, and in retrospect it was not worth the drive. I did some research for other places with same service and most of them were 30 minutes or more away.

Maybe its a little cheaper in a sketchy place, but my only complaint is the rude front desk. Oh, one thing I don't like about the waxing, they don't give you a disposable thong.

This is not the place to go to if you are looking to save a few dollars. It is quite pricey but the service is great and the atmosphere is very relaxing. It can get somewhat busy here at certain times of the year and it is good if you are a regular customer. I have been very pleased with my hair color and have received compliments

Bernards Salon and Spa is located in a strip mall and is quite pricey for that type of location. I went here once and was very dissatisfied with the end result. The stylist did not do what I asked and what I got was extremely unflattering. I believe she just did not know what to do with curly hair. However, many friends who frequent Bernards are very happy with the experience.

I would highly recommends the spa pedicure- very relaxing massage chairs and friendly experienced staff. The salon is also very clean and sanitary. The prices are pretty good for a spa too. The only downside was that the pedicure took much longer than I expected but then again who can complain about that- as long as you have the time! The parking can be a problem because the shopping center it is located in gets very crowded.

I went to Bernards CH for a facial about a month before my wedding. It was average. The hallway outside the facial room is very loud when people walk by. However, my sisters and I went there for our makeup for my wedding in June. I would recommend Sandy to anyone. I work in a spa myself outside of town...she and Adonna did a fantastic job...
