Dr. King is a great doctor- she sees seven of our pets! She's always on-point and will tell you like it is- very straight forward. The new hospital also looks GREAT! As for the negative reviews, I'd personally like to say that more times than none, I feel horrible for Cala. Recently, the past two or three times I have been in, she was running around answering phones, making phone calls, typing like crazy and helping out in the back. I mean the little girl was upstairs, downstairs, in the back, up front, it was CRAZY! She has always been nice enough to fit us in appointments, even in times when we have called the morning of, she has put us in the scehdule the same day! All in all, Dr. King and her girls are GREAT!!!!!!

Dr. King is really a keen diagnostician and sharp as a tack. She seems to have an extraordinary "sense" of what is wrong with our pets right away, although she carefully goes through the checklist of other possibilities to rule everything out before she settles on her final answer. We recently got a new pet from a breeder and the animal had several health problems that had been misdiagnosed (or missed entirely) by the breeder's vet, whom I later talked to. Dr. King also always takes as much time as needed with her patients, which can however sometimes lead to delays in the waiting room.

I agree with b.d. Carla is a sweet person who handles everything at that front desk. In spite of being quite busy she has always been professional and kind to me. As for Dr. King she is wonderful. My family has been a part of her office for over 20 years. I would never go anywhere else.

Jim, you obviously showed up on their surgery day, seeing that you were let in so early at 7:45. Don't take your anger out on the receptionist bc you most likely waited last minute to have your pet seen and expected them to drop everything on a SURGERY day. The receptionist you speak of handles everything and is very good at fitting us in, filling medications, and handling whatever it is we need (records, copies, questions, etc). Good luck to you, and maybe next time you shouldn't wait until last minute to have you pet seen.

Fantastic diagnostician. My cat had been misdiagnosed at the Emergency clinic in Fairfield with a "torn ACL" (and this diagnosis took 1 1/2 hours and cost me hundreds of dollars). I brought him to Dr. King a week later when he wasn't getting any better, and without even x-raying him she told me with certainty after about a minute of examining him that the real problem was a broken leg (this was later confirmed by xray). She is excellent with him, talked us through treatment options and costs, and referred us to an excellent orthopedic veterinarian since the delay had complicated dealing with the break. We are very happy with how she cares for and relates to our cat. My only complaint is that she can be a tad bit sharp with humans!

I was wondering why the reviewer, Jim W., needed to indicate the race of the receptionist in his complaint. If the receptionist was white, would he have pointed that out? I doubt it. Anyway, We have taken our cat and dogs to Dr. King for over 20 years. We trust her.

I have been using Dr. King for about 25 years, and with as many as 7 dogs and cats at one time. She is an excellent diagnostician, connects with the animals, and when one or another of my animals was seriously ill (rescued cat close to death, dog ate large seed pod that punctured his intestines), she has constantly checked if I wanted to go the next step. If an animal needed to be euthanized, she and her staff have given me and my family as much time as we needed, both before and after. I also have to say, in all these years, I have never waited more than 15 or 20 minutes. The only negative with the office is that it is a 1-doctor facility, and if she is away you need a back-up vet or to use the Animal Emergency facility.

My dog had lymes, was limping when I brought her in. Dr King did a physical exam and said the spleen felt 'slightly swollen'. Dr King said it could be nothing or it could be cancer. That scared me enough to agree to a series of tests. She ordered x rays and other tests, all to find out that the colon was full (this happens on a daily basis!) and was pressing on the spleen. Instead of treating the presenting symptom and checking back on the slight swelling, my dog ended up going through 2 x-rays and other tests and I had a bill for $500. I have heard from many others that there seems to be a lot of tests ordered, the theory is that the rent is high and therefore the bills need to be high to cover costs. I have since switched vets (to Cameron Animal Hospital). My dog is healthy and I have been much happier with the care she has received.

My grandmother, mother and now myself have been bringing our animals to Dr. King for YEARS!!! She really knows her stuff. She treats our animals with the very best care possible. She recently saved my grandmothers golden, (unfortunately Dr. King is not available on the weekends, but understandable) the emergency vet told my grandmother all hope was lost for her 2 year old golden and to told her to put her down, Dr. King told my grandmother she couldn't make any promises but she would do everything she could... and she did, she's alive and well! :-) while treating the dog Dr. King went to the supermarket and bought coldcuts for the dog so she would have something good to eat, her assistant woke up in the middle of the nights to go check on the dog while at the office as well, among other things (can't get that kind of care everywhere). I wouldn't go to any other vet!

Visited Dr. King's office at 7:45 this morning. Unfortunately, I never got to see her. The young Asian assistant woman at the desk showed absolute no concern for my cat not eating. I tried to tell her that he needs attention and she said the earliest they could see him was next Monday. The only place I've ever been where an assistant apparently is not interested in the health of animals. Will not be going back.

Dr. King is incredibly knowledgeable and patient. She always knows how to handle the various problems that have arisen with our cats. In addition, she provides options to consider in terms of treatment. When our one cat was diagnosed as diabetic, she tried to have us monitor her through pills (as opposed to immediately jumping to shots) because it was more cost effective. Throughout the first month of the pills, we were told how to carefully monitor her progress from home. Sadly, we did have to move on to the shots, but the staff trained us thoroughly in using the shots at home. They made sure we were confident in the process before we even left the office. Overall, Dr. King and her entire staff is helpful and supportive through any difficulty.

I checked out many many vets in and around the Montclair area. I found Dr King to be the most knowlegable and the sharpist vet around. I have plenty of experience with vets as I rescue sick animals. She is a vet you can trust 100%. Her office can have a long wait at times and I for one think she is worth that wait.
