Yesterday was my first time at Red White & Blue.....I was a little apprehensive as I had read some of your reviews before going.......but, I wanted to see for myself.......I was pleasantly surprised..........I bought many items for $1.50! But the best deal ........ was a (looks like they were never worn) pair of MBT sneakers ...... for 19.99!!! They retail for $249.00!! Couldn't believe it........and I happen to have a large (size 10 foot) and they are a 10 and fit perfectly........so I will definitely go back......

The prices are crazy, the people who work there are rude and ignorant. I have stopped going there and will never go back again. Word of mouth is a great advertisement to a business and the word that I am passing around is all negative and will always be unless they change the way they do business.

Wish we could organize a BOYCOTT of the Red White and Blue stores! They have lost their minds! An AOL DISK (free everywhere) is $5.95 at the Red White and Blue! A tee-shirt $5.95 new at Wal-mart is $7.95 (old) at the Red White and Blue! NO TREASURES to be found anymore - the EMPLOYEES buy All the Good Things! One of the "Employees of the Red White and Blue" living less than 5 minutes away from the store in Paterson NJ has her own EBAY list with lots of Gucci, Prada and all the Fine Things listed for sale and she is Getting Rich!

PRICES HAVE BECOME RIDICULOUS!
For over 15 years I traveled over 50 miles to come to Red, White, and Blue. For 13 of those 15 years I recommended it to friends, neighbors, and relatives. Now, I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. Prices are beyond ridiculous - they are outrageous! Who ever thought a thrift store would be charging $200.00 for a used suit? This is true. I was there today (5/19/09) and I couldn't believe the prices I saw - do something about those prices.

Used to be a great place, prices were reasonable but within the last few years they have raised the prices to absolutely ridiculous prices. You may still find a bargain, but its going to take a tremendous amouunt of searching.

The Red White and Blue store in Mercerville is a privately owned thrift store that buys all of it's merchandise from the Viet Nam Veterans of America. The Viet Nam Veterans of America is a great group that does an amazing job both advocating for Veterans of every era before congress, as well as real one on one meeting needs of the guy's and gals coming home everyday. Go to vva.org and contact them to see what the Red White & Blue thrift store agreement means to the VVA and the programs they are running to benefit Vet's.
The store has been in the Trenton Mercerville area for over 30 years. The previous location on Broad st. in Trenton burned years ago and the property was donated to the city by the owners and subsequently moved the store to Mercerville. It has been a great store for many years.

I agree that they mark up the clothings in such a ridiculous way. When I pay a higher price for a used item that probably should be a bit lower I expect to at least not receive a ruined item. The staples put holes in the clothes and many times I've not purchased an item because of the permanent marker on it which renders the item useless.
I don't agree with the fact that the place is clean. It is so dusty and murky in there that I can no longer go in because I get so sick from the very mild allergies I have. It takes me hours to feel better and stop sneezing. This never happens to be at Goodwill on rt 206.

This is still a great place for kids clothes, toys, shoes, bags and collectibles although I agree that their pricing has gone crazy for a thrift store. I've been shopping here since '97 and can usually find a good deal but it takes more hunting than before. Also beware of fake designer labels that are priced as if they were the real thing! I wouldn't drive hours to check it out but since I live in the area it's a great place to stop in when I go by.

For years I traveled 30+ miles to reach RW&B, but no longer. The prices are too high, and the methods (marker/staples) in which they mark the items often renders the item useless. I wonder if Management is really helping Vets or lining their own pockets!

I truly like the store, but some prices are to high. Please, it is a thrift store. Clothing, is sometimes 40.00 dollars or more, that is wrong.
Just because it is a name brand item, it should be a priced reasonable, clothes are donated, not new.
Please keep prices, if they say over intercom, one thing, and they go to cashier,it is another. Please post the color of the day.

Since 2004 I had being a loyal customer in this store. It always a problem with the prices because the sale like is Macy's. The last time I had the worse experience ever, I saw a item for sale and it was 50% off, when I was ready to pay for it one of the cashiers told the cashier that was getting ready to ring my items not to sell me that specific item because the manager wanted and it was for her.

I've been shopping this store for several years, and have rarely been disappointed...until my last visit.
This is in fact a THRIFT shop... and I always enjoyed the chance to find something that still had store tags on it, for a fraction of the original cost.
But someone has changed the pricing. I saw used clothing marked at $49.95 that was previously available for 10 dollars or less. Used denim jeans were marked at 12-18 dollars---prices I can find at most retailers clearance racks.
If new management has come in, hoping to improve their profits, I suspect they will find their sales going down---not up. Thrift store shoppers have a different mindset---and will leave stuff behind if it's too expensive.
Worse...for the first time ever, I noticed them putting out clothing that was badly worn, torn, or stained---albeit with cheap prices. No one is gonna touch that stuff.
Wake up---or kiss the consumer base you enjoy goodbye.

In response to the "Great Shop, But..." ....this is a great THRIFT and NOT a retail store. I have always found good merchandise here, the personel is helpful, and the parking great.

They tend to write with a permanent marker on wood, paper and sometimes ceramic which won't come off - therefore ruining the item. They put a lot of very nice clothing out, but then staple it on the material....when the staple comes out (especially on sheer fabric), the item is ruined. It's even worse with scarves because they bunch it up and then staple through several layers of the scarf causing multiple holes. Don't even get me started on the shoes with those giant clips they use to hold them together. A few weeks ago, an old lady caught her finger in one...they had to call an abulance. Anyway IF they could use only store stickers and use a better method to tag the clothes - like the retail stores do...this could be a GREAT STORE. They have a ton of stuff, clothes, shoes, toys, coats, bric a brac....it's fun to shop there....oh 2 more negatives: the employees don't speak English very well so it's hard to communicate with them to get them to show you anything behind the counter and sometimes the pricing is ridiculous for used items. One last thing NOT negative or positive - just wanted to mention: it is illegal to sell counterfeit Louis Vuitton bags - Coach items and other famous designers at flea markets, yet RED WHITE and BLUE is loaded with these counterfeit bags, clothes etc. with high price tags as well...somebody should police that.

This is a huge thrift store that carries clothes, shoes, kitchen items, linens, and toys. I have been there a number of times and have found great worn-in jeans in both my size and my son's. I have also bought items to use in my classroom as an 8th grade teacher. The store is clean, has lots of parking and is easily accessible by car.

I've been faithfully making the trip out to RW&B for a dozen years now, even though I've moved several times throughout central Jersey. I really have never found another thrift store with the same quantity and quality of merchandise. The place is huge and has high ceilings, so you can avoid finding that sometimes unpleasant "thrift-store-smell" that permeates the room and the clothes. It's always got a bunch of people there shopping so the turnover is very high- which helps items from becoming stale and keep the current stuff coming in. The prices are more than reasonable and there's much more than clothes... they have furniture, books, records, toys, kitchenware, etc. I don't think I've ever left there emptyhanded. All you need is a lot of patience and time!
