Avoid this place. We went there for lunch and the experience was terrible. First of all, they advertise a $5 lunch special (although we weren't necessarily ordering from the $5 menu). When we were seated, the host intentionally didn't give us the menu with the $5 specials - we had to ask for it. I found that deceptive and rude.
I ended up ordering a grilled chicken platter off the regular menu. The food was tasty but it was such a small portion of chicken breast that I was still hungry after my meal. I asked for mustard and was given a jar. Who knows how many other knives and forks that were in other customers mouths, had been in that jar? Well I didn't stick my knife in there and didn't even have any mustard. That is disgusting and unsanitary. They should be using squeezable mustard or packets.
For a beverage, my girlfriend and I each had an ice tea. It came in the smallest glass anyone could imagine - with ice probably a lot less than 8 ounces. No problem though, I could just get a refill. Well our glasses sat empty for most of the meal and the server didn't even notice. Finally, we asked for a refill and got it....except when we got the bill we were actually charged for 2 additional ice teas. How cheap is that? Now if the server told us that the restaurant charges for beverage refills, that might have been ok... but she didn't even bother mention that small detail.
Also, one of the people we were dining with asked to substitute a baked potato for french fries. No deal, not allowed at this classy establishment. So he ended up with both fries and a baked potato and was charged for the extra potato.
Oh if your looking for whole wheat bread on the sandwiches or wraps, forget you won't find it here. Nor will you find the healthier brown rice or long grain rice - only white.
Stay away from this place! Unsanitary, overpriced, and horribly disappointing.

We were looking for a place to get a seafront dining experience while waiting for a flight out of Newark. This is only about a half hour away in a scenic area along the shore.

Food was quite good with the scallops being exceptional. Very good menu selection of fish and a wide variety of other dishes, including some nice combos.

Service was friendly if a bit leisurely. Entrees were mostly in the $15 to $25 range with a few higher and lower (on the dinner menu which also applies all day Sunday).

The outside of the Ye Cottage Inn is charming, set right on the waterfront with seagulls roosting on the dock just like a postcard. The interior is even better, rustic like the inside of a ship. And the food is out of this world. The broiled fish is tasty and moist. Sides lend themselves well. The fried entrees are my favorite. They really know how to make seafood.

Excellent service, reasonably priced. fantastic food.
