Moms and Dads worry when they have to leave their very young child in someone else's hands. But, after meeting Mary and Miss Judy we were convinced we were making the right decision. Now our son is in the Toddler's and doing better than we thought. He loves his teachers and he loves his friends. He's a good feeling for us to know that our son looks forward to going to school in the morning! We are thankful and blessed that we came across TVLC. The caring and nurturing he receives is fantastic and everything they are teaching him every day is a BONUS!

Our 21 month old son loves the Village Learning Center. He is happy to go to school every day. I am pleased with the activities they do during the day - they read every day, have art projects often, play in the outdoor area, etc. I think our son is learning a lot there. For example, he recites days of the week (not in order) and sings the "baby bumble bee" song pretty well. These are a few things that I know I didn't go over with him so he must have learned them at school. I was impressed how quickly he learned all the other children's names. When we ask him how his day was, he mentions "I play [name of child]"...he goes right down the list of his friends and teachers. I think the teachers do a great job of encouraging them to play nicely together and share. The teachers really understand where each child is coming from - where they are developmentally and what their likes and dislikes are. As a first time parent, I appreciated the (optional) parent/teacher conference where the teacher reviewed how our son was doing on certain developmental milestones. We went to a different center before this one and really recognize how much better this center is. You also don't have to worry about it closing or having financial problems. Unfortunately, we are moving to a different state soon so we'll have to switch centers otherwise I'd definitely stay here until our son starts school.

I'm not sure why this site says their hours are 7 - 3pm, they are 7 - 6pm.

After my two daughters spent a total of eight years in a Bright Horizons corporate-sponsored child development center I suddenly found myself looking for child care when my husband changed jobs. I felt spoiled by the great care we had received and expected to have to settle for less at any other center. But my four-year-old daughter absolutely LOVES The Village Learning Center (TVLC) and fit right in as soon as she started despite having only known the other center for her entire life.

TVLC is bright and cheerful featuring white and primary colors inside. One thing TVLC has that not all centers have is a library! The children can sit in the teepee reading books and then check books out to bring home. TVLC also has two-level indoor play houses in the Pre-K and Kindergarten rooms. Children can climb the stairs to the "second floor" or play underneath on the "first floor".

Another pleasant surprise is that TVLC offers cereal in the morning. That is a huge help to a working mom trying to get out the door in time in the morning. Somehow my daughter likes Miss Carla's Cheerios much better than ours at home! She rushes in the morning so that she can get there in time for breakfast.

TVLC's owner, Mary, is so pleasant and genuinely friendly. Having an owner on site nearly every day is comforting and another unique aspect of TVLC. Other centers simply have directors who are employees of the company. But an owner really cares and doesn't leave. I think that this is a major factor in the staff longevity at TVLC. There is remarkably low staff turnover at TVLC, which is so important for the children, because it is hard on the children when the teachers leave.

TVLC is comparable in every way to the national chain centers (in terms of the building, rooms, playgrounds, policies, and programs) and BETTER in that it also has a family feel by hosting potluck family picnics and holiday parties. It is the perfect size center in that it is big enough to offer everything that the national chains do and small enough to feel like a family.

My 1yo son has been in the Infant I room since he was 3 months. He has blossomed in to an inquisitive young boy, recognizing colors and shapes, dancing to songs and perfecting his fine motor skills. He points to objects and is so eager and happy to be at TVLC. I'm a first time Mother and have learned a lot from both the staff and from my son's experiences. The interaction he has with other children is priceless; most of all, the staff are very nurturing, willing to communicate openly with the parents and are knowledgeable of each childs unique traits. I definitely recommend TVLC and consider it the best in the area.

Message from The Village Learning Center

We know how important it is for you to find the best child care center. One that your can trust, know that your child is safe and that the educational program meets your needs. At TVLC we offer a safe, nurturing environment that fosters learning through discovery by using the "Creative Curriculum" which is recommended by both NAEYC and NJ Dept of Ed.

Our Infant Program is arranged so each infant is able to form a bond with a primary caregiver. Alert to their cues adults hold infants or move them to a new place or position, giving them variety in what they are able to look at and do. Caregivers talk, sing, and read to babies, enabling infants to become familiar with language. They can be seen and heard at all times. Parents and caregivers share children's activities and development on a daily basis, building a mutual understanding and trust.
