I was hesitant to send my wife here, based on the reviews I read. Knowing that you can't go by online reporting, I changed my mind...and was glad that I did.,
My wife's expensive frames broke this weekend, so she headed to LensCrafters, where they came from. Thay told her the frame had been discontinued, a fact which I confirmed with the manufacturer. LensCrafters, though, really did nothing in the way of helping her out, even though the glasses cost over $600 with lenses and sunglass clips. No calls to see about replacing the broken part...just "it's been discontinued, it's not under warrantee. You need to buy new frames. You cannot reuse the lenses or sunglass clips."
Not being flush with cash at the moment, my wife went to check the possibility of getting a cheaper pair at Spare Pair. Now, the representative she spoke with knew he had a sale, as she definitely needed a new pair of glasses. However, he took the time to make a call...and even though the frame has been discontinued, he was able to track down the template which had broken. We'll now be able to have the glasses fixed for $60, and will be returning to purchase all of our glasses there.
In Livingston we expect better than average service. If you don't want to give that type of service, look to open shop elsewhere. They can be rude. The can be cranky sometimes as well. I went to Costco before I walked in their store last week, but you can get ZERO hep at Costco. Perl-Vision is about 30% more expensive.Pick your poison. If the Owner f Spare Pair reads these reviews,he should be ashamed. One should NEVER get so many RUDE complaints. They cant all be wrongJohn L.
Don't even waste your time. Worst customer service and glasses-purchasing experience ever. Being a resident of Livingston for years and knowing the many quality businesses that are within town, I am beyond embarrassed for these people at how they run their business and treat customers. The staff are all inexperienced and beyond rude. My lenses scratched on day 2 of wearing the new glasses. I asked for them to be completely replaced, to which they then ordered me the wrong lenses. In going back for a 4th time, the lenses gave me a horrible headache and were unwearable. When I came in to complain, they were nothing but rude and completely unhelpful. When I asked to speak to the manager, he refused to speak with me, which goes to show how this store could care less about their customers and the overall experience of purchasing glasses from their store. Clearly they do not stand behind their products. Stay far away! I ended up going to Lens Crafters. Lens Crafters had my glasses same day (Spare Pair took over a week) and were absolutely perfect. Great customer service and experience - they stand behind their product. Spare Pair doesn't even deserve one star - they should get negative ones in my book.
I disagree with all the reviews written so far. My family has been using Spare Pair ever since they opened. We have had quality eye/vision checks, great eyeglasses made (including variflex), and great customer service. Their frames range from inexpensive no-name/no-frills to designer, from plain lenses to variflex, priced accordingly. If you have poor service here, then you were a bad customer.
Come on you get what you pay for. The glasses are inexpensive and serrve their purpose. They have all contacts and can get them within a couple of days and again INEXPENSIVE. If you wanted service go somwhere else and pay 3x as much for pair of glasses and get contacts with no discount.
The stuff is so inexpensive that the mean lady on the phone is probably getting paid minumum wage. You'd be angry too!!
Relax and enjoy cheap eyewear!!
I have unfortunately been going for 4 years, however twice I was given the wrong prescription of their contact lenses in stock and had to go back. They are rude and unpleasant, and by no means are experts. I will no longer be going back.

Not the most professional bunch seems to be run by a bunch of college students. OK selection of frames, most designer brands represented, Chanel, Gucci etc. This place will do if you have your RX in hand and are looking for prescription sunglasses. For anything else such as expert advice and fitting, look elsewhere.
