First of all I want to start by saying I too have never written a review before, however, I feel my story needs to be shared. My dog was a 120 lb Doberman, he was suffering from a wheezing problem, and we were unaware of a condition called DCM, which basically means he had an oversized/weak heart that caused fluid to build up in his lungs. We took our dog to Dr. Westfield, and although he mentioned a possible heart problem, he overlooked it and chose the easier route and put my dog on a penicillin treatment for kennel cough. He told us to come back in a week for a check up. We had to put our dog down three days later because the DCM condition worsened and his lungs were completely filled with fluids. By the time we got to the hospital we were unable to tap his lungs because the fluid had absorbed into the tissue. We put our dog down that night, when there could have been a chance to keep him alive if we addressed the DCM first. I HIGHLY recommend finding a different doctor who is more cautious and caring for his patients. I do not want anyone going through what my dog and my family had to.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I have been bringing my pets here since my relocation to Hunterdon County in 1999. I first went to Spruce Run, where the vet was unable to regulate my Lab's diabetes and failed to correctly diagnose my cat's renal infection.

Drs. Westfield and Chet are excellent doctors, and have been highly successful in diagnosing rarer medical problems (Chrone's Disease in my Lab, pallative tumor in my Doberman) and successful treating such conditions as surgically correcting cherry-eye in my Frenchton puppy, working with us to regulate my Lab's severe diagnosis and treating us with empathy and courtesy when we have made the humane decision to send our beloved pets to the Rainbow Bridge.

Everyone in the practice is friendly, shows concern and the doctors do an EXCELLENT job in personally communicating both good and bad news in follow up sessions. I find it hard to believe we will ever replace this group with another veterinary practice.

I agree with the other person who said Dr Westfield is condescending. I found him arrogant too. I had a stray that I caught from my back yard area, and wanted to neuter him. I had a certificate from Friends of Animals that was $50, and good to cover the neutering. The office wanted to charge me to also do a $40 rabies shot and another $20 to notch his ear, if I remember prices correctly. I asked to speak to the doctor, and explained that I cannot afford to do all that for all the cats in my back yard, because there are more strays. He began yelling at me about how important the vaccine was and how people come to his office driving mercedes and then use these coupons for discount neuters and how his office costs a lot of money to run. No, I don't drive a mercedes, and no I don't look at an agreement between Friends of Animals and various vet offices as coupons or charity. I paid $50 for the FOA certificate for a cat that I don't even own! I was trying to be a good person and stop the strays from having more and more litters, out of my own pocket. Dr Westfield left such a bad taste in my mouth, he was so insulting. I would never go back again.

STAY FAR AWAY! First of all, I have never reviewed something before in my life but felt that I had to review this vet to save animal's lives. First, he was very negligent by not even doing an exam before giving my animal his vaccinations. The vet also gave the wrong vaccinations and I had to come back to get this issue resolved. He was defensive about the mistake and very condescending, instead of being apologetic. I was embarrassed for him for how unprofessional he acted. In addition, the vet mis-diagnosed a simple sickness due to lack of a proper exam and I had to go back multiple times before the sickness was resolved. I will NEVER go to them again and would spread my experience to everyone that I know that has animals. The support staff was very nice though.

We are very grateful to Hunterdon Hills Animal Hospital for their good care - both to our pets and us. We find the staff friendly and helpful and the team of vets careful and protective of our animals. Once, when we found a stray kitten and it was sick, Dr. Little actually took it to his house because we couldn't bring it in our home because of my daughter's severe allergies. Dr. Westfield recently referred our dog to the hospital in Redbank. After three days in their ICU with a rare disease, our dog is now on the mend and being cared for locally at Hunterdon Hills. We are pleased Dr. Westfield knew exactly how to get the extra care we needed for our beloved pet. Thank you to everyone at Hunterdon Hills.

I understand this vet has a unlicensed vet that killed a few cats as he is not properly experienced. It's strange how all the negative reviews on here are erased...

I LOVE Hunterdon Hills Animal Hospital especially Dr. Chet. My second dog got into eating some aluminum foil and Dr. Chet saved her life! Before Dr. Chet performed surgery on my present dog this past January, I received a call from him to discuss some questions he had and I had. No matter how many questions or concerns you have, Dr. Chet spends the time no matter how long it takes. The staff are very friendly, caring concerned individuals. The facility is very neat and clean.

I have been bringing my boxer Luna to Hunterdon Hills Animal Hospital for 6 years now. Without a doubt, Dr. Little & Dr. Chet as well as the staff have been great! They are all caring, patient and willing to answer any questions you have. Their wall of their "patients" brings a smile to your face. In an effort to give back to the people who take care of my best friend, I donate newspapers and blankets to help them care for other people's best friends. Trust me, you only go out of your way for people who go out of theirs...
A loyal customer,
Lauren

We have 9 cats and have had two dogs with this office with Dr Chet. He is an amazing vet, very caring and very thorough. The staff is very kind and responsive, they are knowledgable and they are very accomodating. I had two cats require an unscheduled drop-off in the AM, both on a Monday morning to be looked at when possible, during the day. Both needed special procedures and both were taken care of and then Dr Chet called me himself to explain everything that was done and instructions for their after care. I think if I had to drop off all 9 cats and our dog they would find a way to accomodate us.
Every visit no matter how small, our pets get a very thorough exam. As much as I am sometimes tallying the bill in my head, it is comforting to know all of the bases are covered. I can't say too many good things about Dr Chet.
I highly reccomend him.

This is where i go to take my dog during well and sick visits becuase i just love the atmosphere here, the staff and dr is so good with the animals and always let you know exactly what is going on with your animal. This place is very clean and nicely taken care of and altogether a great place to bring your animals. This place also does emergency care as well which is an added bonus. This place will never let you down. Parking is great and they almost always have room while booking appointments.
