Donna B. from devones. Do you really think it is good business to show what a silly small minded person you are? Do you think that the owner appreciates you treating customers like garbage? The post from lisa was bad enough without you going on and validating her point. The picture Lisa painted about the climate in devone's was up to interpretation. You just finished the picture by letting everyone know, you were rude and dressed like a slut. If I was there and any of that happened with my family....you would not be happy. You should not let the customer suffer because of your personal BS. Sorry you had to work!

THE WORST $100 EVER SPENT!!!!
to start we walked in at 4:50 on a sunday nights with two five year old boys. the entire dining room was a buspersons nightmare. We were told they were cleaning up from a party of 50 and we would have to sit in the bar area.....with two five year olds. When the bartender, in her white leather thigh high boots FINALLY acknowledged we were there we had to hear how she only serves drinks but would have to take are order. We ordered the soup, waited and waited finally told her we would like to order. We ordered garlic bread, two dinners and a grilled cheese sandwich. Almost twenty minutes later we recieved the bread, grilled cheese and are salads...guess she forgot the soup. She was to busy telling the only other table eating behind us that the expiditer did not show and she was making friggin salads....next two two five year olds. she than continued for twenty minutes to talk to the dinnig room waitress who was loudly complaining the party of fifty was not fifty total and she worked all day and did not make any money. she two was also dressed as a retiree form a strip club. I finally went to the bar to ask for ketchup, salt, pepper, refills, napkins, and our soup. The soup arrived, scolding hot as if it was microwaved and uneatable, i asked for to go containers.......after thirty minutes she asked if we wanted are chaeck, WE DID NOT GET OUR DINNERS YET. After almost an hour and two fidditing five yerr olads we took a bite or two of our bland meals and and for boxes and the check, as we paid the $100 bill she was still complaining about all she does to run the place.....I'm soory we will NEVER EVER RETURN!!!

An extreme disappointment. Been there twice, the last time in early 2009 and enjoyed it. However this time almost totally sucked.

First of all the service sucked. Never got the complimentary pasta appetizer, had to ask another server and a bus staff for drink refills , napkins, etc.. It wasn't that crowded. We waited an inordinate amount of time for our meal. We are okay with that if the service is good and the meal is done correctly.

Since they had no prime rib ("wasn't delivered along with the veal" - are they going out of business?) I ordered the sirlon steak, medium rare. When it came out, over an hour later, it was medium-well done. Did not want to wait another hour, so I ate most of it. When the server made one of her rare appearances, showed her an uneaten piece, at which point, she said she will "show it to Dot". When she came back, she offered Dot's apologies, that Dot was afraid to provide an undercooked serving. I may not have Dot's experience, it seems to me that to provide an undercooked piece of meat is a lot easier and cheaper to correct than an overcooked item.

My salad was mediocre, cole slaw good and eggplant parm, while good, was served lukewarm.

In fairness to them, my wife enjoyed the fried crab balls/shrimp platter and they picked up a round of drinks(wine) as payback for the steak.

Will not go back.

This establishment is small to begin with. When we entered it was cramped with patrons and waitstaff walking by the hostess stand. The hostess did not notice us because she was involved in a personal conversation that lasted about 2 minutes before I interupted. I only said excuse me and the hostess gave me a cross look. When we were finally seated, we were not given menus or the hand written daily specials paper. I had to ask another table to see the specials and we got our own menus. EVERYTHING was at least $10.00 overpriced and they even charged for refills on soda. The rest of our experience was satisfactory. The food was very good and they gave plenty of portions. However, I do not believe we will return. Our final bill for 3 meals (not even the most expensive), 2 appetizers, 2 deserts, 1 Appletini and 3 sodas with 3 refills was $135.00. For such a "dive" too expensive...

I LOVE THIS PLACE.... Everything is homemade, made to order and DELICIOUS. It's like Mom is in the kitchen cooking for you. The portions are HUGE...twice the size of other places, you won't even believe your eyes, the first time you go there. Someone at another table actually took a picture of their prime rib because it was so big! The crab sauce on my stuffed flounder was to die for and they even serve TRIPE! This place is like no other......It's an old fashioned little haven in this fast food world. Family oriented....Kids draw pictures for the walls while dinner is prepared....charming. Friendly servers were VERY helpful.I can not say enough....try it!

PROS: Excellent food, huge portions, great service
CONS: Very Casual Atmosphere, 1/2 price refils on sodas

I have lived in New Jersey for over 20 yrs and went very often to Devones to eat their crab cakes and i have yet to find the crab cake that could measure up to Devones. I now live in Maine where they are famous for lobster and crabs and NOBODY measures up to Dot's Crab Cakes.
