I took my two dogs to Jardo Kennels to board them for two nights based on a recommendation from my vet. At the time, one dog was taking an antibiotic pill for an allergy and the other is a diabetic and requires two insulin shots daily.

Customer Service
There is an older woman and man running this business out of their home, which is fine. Although the man was very nice and courteous, the woman we were dealing with mostly was rude during our interactions.

Cost
The cost was reasonable $22/day per dog plus $2 per insulin shot. However, the way the price was calculated was a bit different than I expected: Drop off @ 4pm on 7/1 and pickup @ 2pm on 7/3. This was calculated as 3 days. I expected to be billed for two days for less than 48 hours of service, but I was incorrect.

Concerns
- Dogs were returned filthy.
- Their eyes seemed to be strained and red, and we??re not sure why.
- One of our dogs was acting strange after we brought him home for about 24 hours. The woman, upon drop off and pickup seemed to confuse the dogs (they are similar) and I think there is a possibility that she may have administered the insulin shots to the wrong dog.
- The items that we provided (e.g. toys, insulin, medicine bottle, etc) came back dirty, greasy, and had insects on them. So much so, my wife threw everything out except the bottle of insulin, which she wiped down with alcohol.
- The insulin bottle was warm upon pick up, although it is supposed to be kept in the refrigerator.

Normally I??d call and complain about this level of service, but the woman is just rude, so I??m just glad that we have our dogs back. I??ll be sure to let our vet know about our experience.

We searched for a solid breeder as our 9 yo daugther wanted a german shepherd. After a long search we were led to Jardo Kennels by numerous local recommendations - vet's, other owners, etc. They are simply the best - we have a wonderful dog with beautiful lines, disposition, and the Jardo's are always there to help in any way with suggestions, tips, boarding help when we travel and even with her training. This is a top notch operation where their heart and love go into every puppy they breed - Kovacs Family, East Brunswick NJ

Pros: Wonderful, Healthy Dogs raised on love

Cons: None

I purchased a puppy from this facility 11 years ago. First of all, let me be clear when I say that I loved my dog very much. He recently crossed over the Rainbow Bridge 02/08/2007. However, his life was riddled with many problems, caused by his breeding. My "Jardo" bred dog had a VERY long history of ear problems, thyroid problems, skin problems, and neurologic problems w/his rear legs. The dog suffered a lot in his last 4 years of life. I did my best by taking him to the vet, and made him as comfortable as possible. But I am very angry at the quality of the breed line. And last, his coat was long haired. Which is not the standard for a German Shepherd. I was not told this by the breeder, and felt "taken advantage of". Pros: the dogs temperment and intelligence were very good. He was the sweetest dog, and I still miss him more than ever. But I wish problems like he had on NO animal. I blame the breeding of Jardo Kennels 100% for those faults. Hopefully they can correct this problem. My vet mentioned that she saw many problems like this from his kennel over the years.

I used this kennel once and it was the worst experience ever. First off, they wouldn't let me see the actual 'cages' where they keep the dogs. I had to look at them from a distance (from the front yard). That should have been my first clue not to go here. Next, when I picked up my dog, she had clearly lost a lot of weight (she was there for a week) and her bag leg was puffy as if it were infected. After we brought her to the vet, we find out she had a puncture in her leg that had to be drained because it was infected. How could the kennel not notice this and just hand our dog back to us as if nothing had happened? They think her leg got punctured on the fence in the dog run area. They did re-imburse us our money for vet bills, but didn't give us a dime back for the boarding. I say avoid this place at all costs!!!!

PROS:
CONS: Not nice people. Treated my dog badly.
