3 Tips for Developing Self-Discipline in Your Children 1. As a parent, you must always, always, do what you say you are going to do. Remember that your children learn from EVERY encounter with you...even if it's not what you want them to learn! If a child, for example, is being disruptive, and you say, "Michael, please stop that," and then allow Michael to continue, you have effectively taught Michael to disobey! Children need the security that comes from knowing Mom and Dad are truly in charge. Any inconsistency in your approach robs them of that security! 2. Show your children the effects of self-discipline, and the effects of LACK of self-discipline. Be on the lookout for people who are becoming successful as a result of their self-discipline. Families, athletes, famous people, even fictional characters can be great examples. 3. Paint an exciting future for your children. Inspire them to dream big dreams, to think boldly about their future. Show them the opportunities that become available to people who have great discipline! http://okinawakenpokarateacademy.blogspot.com/ Sincerely, Shihan Brian DeGori

My son has attended the Okinawa Kenpo Karate Academy in Swedesboro NJ since he was 13. This was one of the best decisions we ever made for him. His Sensei's, Mr. Brian and Mr. Ferguson are the best. He has now earned his purple belt and is competing in his second tournament tomorrow. He won first place in the last one. His confidence level has risen tremendously and he has learned to defend himself which has made him a happier person and has enhanced his life. Mr. Brian and Mr. Ferguson have helped him tremendously and their caring is insurmountable. I cannot say enough good things about this Academy and the Sensei's. Also, they are on top of things always. We have ordered equipment and it was taking a little longer than normal to arrive and they were on top of it and Shihan DeGori, himself, got back to me with an update. Five Stars is not enough for this Academy. Kudos!!!!!

SELF-RESPECT It is important to respect friends, family, teachers, and adults, but it also is very important to respect yourself. How do you do that? It is simple: do things by yourself that will make you a better person and never do things that will hurt you. The more things you do that are good for you, the more you keep achieving great things. These things make you feel really good about yourself and make you a champion for life! When you do this by yourself You get this! Study hard - Smarter, better test scores, better grades, better job Read books - More imagination, creativity, faster thinking, better spelling skills Work out - Stronger muscles, live longer, gain speed and power Eat healthfully - Feel better, look better, more energy, live longer Show respect - More friends, trust, freedom, people do more for you and like you more Schedule your day - Have more fun, free time, activities, time with friends, accomplish more

While my son was there he learned so much from the instructor who had a perfect balance of being kid friendly and being serious and passionate about teaching martial arts. When he stopped instructing there, the student teachers took over mostly and my son wasn't learning as much and started getting a little bored. You have to pay for each new belt and they are very expensive. They push you to spend more money, tournaments, leadership program (cost of kit $500) etc...

Cheryl W. Thank you for your review! "Cheryl" was upset due to the fact that we asked her to pay for her tuition simply for the time her child attended. We communicated with "Cheryl" through mail, e-mail, certified mail and phone. She chose to ignore all forms of communication. Everyone of our Instructors has been with us for at least 10 years and they go through ongoing training every week. With over 700 Black Belts graduating from our schools, we never push anyone to do anything. Our students and Black Belts have praised us for years and we have never pushed anyone to do anything, except maybe, to pay for services rendered.

My son and I have been going for almost two years starting with Jiu-Jitsu and then migrating into mixed martial arts. For us it is the right approach and I cannot say I have ever been disappointed when I leave. The atmosphere is supportive while still being focused.

We enrolled in the 30 day free program. My children love the classes so we signed them up. They have been practicing theFocus, Discipline & Respect taught at the school. They have also improved their behavior at home and in school. My girls have made new friends and my son has is well on his way to becoming what Shihan Degori calls a black belt leader. Thanks to all the OKKA staff.

My family and I have been training at the Pitman location for over 5 years. We started after both of our children earned their Black Belt. We really enjoyed watching them as they went through the ranks but discovered it was even more fun to do it ourselves. The instructor are very helpful, they offer a flexible schedule and we cannot get enough. Thank You Shihan DeGori!! Love the MMA class also.
