Best wedding shoes - hands down!
I was a bridesmaid in a wedding and decided to go to Alan's for my dyeables instead of a store that sold a cheaper dyeable shoe. Granted Alan's may seem a little pricey, for the brand they sell called "Dyeables" they are in line with every other store that sells them if you do the research. In addition, the service is amazing and friendly. They do charge $25 to die which is a little high BUT they match it EXACTLY to the dress swatch. A lot of places only have a chart to select from. The wedding was a daytime wedding and I had to be there at 9:00am for pictures. I wore these shoes until 6:00pm that night dancing my butt off! They were so comfortable, I can't imagine getting a better shoe for the price. 6 months later my own wedding was approaching and I only needed white shoes but with the fear of having sore feet like so many brides do, I went back to Alan's and bought another pair of Dyeables and just didn't dye them - left them as they came in white satin. These shoes for $59 and I saw them in Astlya bridal shop in woodbridge for $129!!! I wore them from 10:00am until 1:00am that night - didn't take them off once. These shoes do not hurt your feet which is unheard of. Also, if you get the shoe dyed a color, you can get them dyed over black and get plenty of use out of them. I say save yourself the hassle and just go right to Alan's. The hours are NOT convenient but it will save you so much headache in the end.

Tiny Fat Feet to Cinderella Shoe
by Just M.
I really feel bad that some of these people have had such bad experiences. However, it is clear that they must have perfect, standard sized feet.
When I got married, David's Bridal told me to choose whatever shoes that I wanted to wear for my wedding. I made it crystal clear to them that my foot is a size 5.5 and a wide width (for those of you that don't know, most wide shoes do not start until size 7, although on occasion, a size 6.5 can be found and even rarer size 6, but who wants shoes on their wedding day to be too big?). They told me "no worries, we can order ANY size in ANY style", so they gave me a pair of shoes that were too big, just to try on for my final dress fitting. Once complete, I went to the register to pay for the fitting and order shoes, only to be told that my size couldn't be ordered and that I needed to find a size 5.5 wide in a 2.75 inch heel in order for the hem of my dress to be the correct length - in less than a week (that was Saturday). I spent Saturday through Wednesday going to every wide-width shoe store between Norristown, PA to Freehold, NJ to Woodbridge, NJ. NOTHING ANYWHERE...
I walked into Alan's on a Thursday night, was looking at the shoes for all of 2 minutes when a gentleman walked up to me and said "when is the wedding?" - apparently the panic on my face could not be hidden. I told him that I was leaving on Sunday (I had a destination wedding) and what I needed, specifically, was the 2.75 inch heel, that I would be willing to deal with big shoes to not step on my dress. He told me to pick a few shoes, then he would properly measure my feet - yup, 5.5 wide. He took the 3 pair that I had chosen, asked me which was my favorite, and went into the back. My heart sank when I saw him walk out with one box of shoes, only to re-think when I saw this beautiful smile on his face... He had only brought out the pair that I liked best... A size 5.5 wide. And guess what - the heel was 2.75 inches tall. In less than 20 minutes, I went in there a crushed bride, and came out with my Cinderella shoes that fit perfectly both my foot and for my dress hem... How can you argue that?
I am going back tonight...

Great Products & Service
by Laura R.
Tired of seeing her shoes cutting into her ankles and instep, it was obvious that my elderly mother needed to be measured and fitted for good shoes that would accomodate her feet, which have developed a tendency to swell. However, she didn't know where to go. And then I found Alan's, right down the street from JFK Hospital, where she had a short stay. The selection of well made leather shoes which will accomodate people with foot problems is excellent. Stores like this are hard to find, and I am glad it is so close by. She was measured, and just as I thought, she had been wearing a size much too small and narrow for her now. Apparently, feet grow as you age. The salesman took great care in fitting her, asking about any health problems like diabetes, and carefully taking plenty of time with her. She didn't like the first shoes she tried on (too 'orthopedic' and she wanted something a bit more stylish - she may be 83, but she still feels young!), so the salesman showed her several other choices and offered to special order her anything he didn't have in stock, such as a dressy shoe. She decided on a cute lace-up in nubuck leather with enough room for her feet and sometimes swollen ankles. We used the internet coupons on their website and ended up buying her two pairs in different colors. My mother is thrilled with her shoes, and keeps marveling over how well made they are. I was pleased that they are made in America and that she now has good, supportive shoes with room for the swelling that she now experiences. Thank you, Alan's Fine Footwear. I highly recommend your store.

Alan's Fine Arrogance
by Christine N.
My daughter and her 2 bride maids had purchased their shoes for the wedding from Allan's Fine Footwear. Needless to say, entering the store the girls thought, from the FALSE advertisement, they were going to have the largest selection of dye able shoes in the tri-state area. The selection that Allan's had was NO WHERE close to the so called largest selection in the tri-state area. If they had 20 pairs of shoes to choose from they were lucky. The bridal collection Allan's Fine Footwear offered was horrible. Needless to say, in fear the girls wouldn't find a store to only dye shoes, they picked out a style. The shoes cost the bridesmaids over $75 EACH and my daughter over $80. If that wasn't enough, they proceeded to charge EACH of the girls $25 to dye them on top of the extremely high shoe cost. My daughter was away for the weekend the shoes were ready for pick up so I went to pick them up for her. I entered the store and asked for the Store Manager to ask why he charged the girls $75 total to dye 3 pairs of shoes, when the majority of other bridal shops do not charge a fee at all.The Manager just listened, but in the course of the conversation the Owner walked in and said "If you need to talk to anyone, you talk to me". I wanted to explain my problem and concern for the girls and the response I got was, "No you listen to me".He was arrogant, defensive, rude and greedy for a business owner. He would not let me speak until he was done defending his $25 charge. I continued to explain that I could understand the cost if the girl had not purchased their shoes from him, but since they did, at a very high cost (which the shoes were not worth) but he did not want to listen. The same shoes were found at other bridal shops in New Jersey for over $25 less than what she paid for them, and were dyed for free. When my daughter returned from her trip, she looked at the shoes and was very disappointed. Her shoes had lace and rhinestones on them and the lace was shredding and causing it to fuzz up and all of the rhinestones looked dirty. The girls also purchased shoe grips for the bottom of the shoes, which they were told would be applied to the shoe after it was dyed. Again, false information given as when the shoes were picked up the grips were still in there package and were not applied to the shoes.I would not recommend ANYONE to go to Allan's for any type of their fine footwear needs. I wish I knew the owner was an arrogant, money hungry rip off business owner before my daughter and her bride maid's shoes were bought and paid for because he is the LAST person I would want to give my business too.

Old beat up wedding shoes
by ruth s.
I stepped into the store and requested to try on wedding shoes. I tried on the sample shoes and i liked the way they fit. However, I figured being that I'm paying a ridiculous amount of money for a pair of shoes that i would get NEW shoes; however, the vendor (the old guy) put the same old pair in the box and did not bother to tell me. I went home with these shoes not realizing they were beat up. I then had to drive all the way back to EDISON to request NEW ones. THERE WAS NO APOLOGY OR CONCERN ON THEIR BEHALF. They simply ordered me new ones, like "oh i didn't know you wanted new ones when you pay that much money." WITH ALL RESPECT I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SUPPOSED FINE FOOTWEAR STORE TO ANYONE TRYING TO MAKE THEIR WEDDING LESS STRESSFUL...

Alan's Fine Footwear is literallyt seconds from Menlo Park Mall. Alan's has one of the largest selction of bridal and dyeable shoes in the county. The prices are reasonable and they can order you in a hoe if they don't have your size. All shoes take one week to get dyed and the cost is about $20. They also have orthopedic shoes available as well as new balance sneakers.
