I have been taking my dog to Hawthorne Animal Hospital for the last 7 years. My grandmother also has been taking her diabetic dog there for years, as she was not satisfied with her previous vet. Dr.Dinjer Shefki has even made several house calls to my grandmother's house. Dr.Maxine Shefki has removed a huge tumor from my guinea pig. The doctors spend the time to make sure your pet is examined and treated properly and that everything is explained before you leave. They also follow up and call to make sure everything is going well. They are not cheap, but all the doctors are very caring, experienced and competent. The place is very clean: it does not smell like other animal hospitals I have been to. Everyone is very kind and helpful. I highly recommend them.

These docs are more interested in selling prescriptions than doing what is medically necessary. I do not have any confidence in the diagnoses at this point. They also charge for follow up visits. My dog has a sensitive stomach. They diagnosed it as colitis, sold me over $350 in prescrips, and my dog isn't "cured" by any means. If I watch what he eats and make sure he doesnt eat cat food, we have very little problems. Now we are dealing with a scratched cornea and they expcet me to pay $65 every week while they look at the eye to see that it's doing well. I do not recommend!!

We have brought three separate sets of cats to Hawthorne Animal Hospital over the span of 20+ years to care for and help us keep healthy and in tip top condition. We have always found the staff, particularly Dr. Robben, to be eager to help in any way to treat our babies with the care they would afford their own pets. The fact that we have entrusted our pets' care into their hands for this amount of time should tell you how we feel about the folks who work here. Compassionate, professional, knowledgeable, and humane. Says it all in our book.
