I am a bit of a dollar store nut. I think I've been in them all within about a 10 mile radius. Now, Amazing Savings is not a dollar shop, even when considering that most dollar shops (except Dollar Tree) are now $1 and up, and mostly up. I saw where another reviewer said they are linked with the Odd Lot store chain. That makes sense, because it has the same feel.

Veterans of the deep discount stores expect to be perusing merchandise that might actually turn out to be too cheap in quality to be worth the savings. I have learned to avoid non-brand name batteries, light bulbs, nearly thread-bare thread count towels, and to be very careful choosing toys. The whole lead paint from the far east risk that keeps cropping up in the news is of concern to me. So no toys that a very small child is likely to gnaw on. Also, no foodstuffs beyond brand name gum or candy.

The variety of the store's merchandise is large enough to tempt you buy something you hadn't planned on when you entered. The glass and dish ware is a budget shopper's dream. The location is ideal for us, but I would still check out a Dollar Tree if I was stocking up on party/holiday decorations and mundane household accessories like cleansers and plastic containers.

The store is clean and well stocked, though it can get tight in the aisles, and bogged down at the checkout at peak times. My wife has always been able to find a nice gift for her many office occasions like someone's birthday or Secret Santa event. I recommend this store to anyone familiar with the closeout market. They are closed Friday afternoons and all day on Saturday, as is a good number of Cedar Lane stores, in observance of Shabbat. Don't quote on this but I seem to recall that they open after sunset on Saturdays for a few hours. I will check and amend the review.

Changed owners to the old family owned back in 90s. The Amazing Savings is back with great value. Check it when you need china, tableware, kid??s toys and books. Don??t expect too much service with such prices :)

While this store mostly holds random things, I have been able to find various objects thtat I needed. My theory is you really can't go looking for something specific. If you find something the consider your self lucky. The space is organized. And the staff is nice.

This Amazing Savings is also an Odd Job Outlet. They have lots of crystal giftware, toys, gift wrap and household items at low prices. Make sure to hit the after holiday sale for clearance.
