I went with my husband and the waitress/host was a flirt. Is this restaurant one of those that women want to get paid extra for being flirts? I was advice to go there for dinner and drinks which was wonderful but the management needs to provide their staff with classes on respect. It was not only my husband she was flirting with, every man their she was being flirty. Owner of East La hire people with morals. It was like If I walked into a sex shop restaurant.

this is exactly my post from another website cause I was so upset!

Here is a example for any restaurateur not to follow!

I was taking out a colleague on a business meeting and he said he had to try this place. I immediately called my friend and he let me know I am in for a ride.

I get there and immediately I notice the place is FILTHY! The waitress took forever to take my drink order and some guy passing by slid it on the table. We ordered the food after waving down the waitress (only 2 waitresses on staff!). After 20 minutes I finish my soda and slide the cup to the end of the table. I end up waiting another 10 minutes and someone at my table flagged down the waitress and we finally recieved a refill. After waiting another 40 minutes and seeing people that came after us eating and leaving - I knew there was a mixup.... The host comes by to pre-bus the table and I told him we havent eaten yet. He says "you got to be joking with me that you havent eaten yet?" Didnt see him after that for a while.

When we ask the server she walks up to the passbar and starts up with the cooks... I tell the host can you send a manager to the table please? He walks away and the manager never comes.

One plate out of the three comes out (1 hour after ordering). Then finally the other two arrive.

I asked the server "what was the problem? Did the check not print in your kitchen? She replies with "I am sorry its not my fault - We are trying to work together" ---- ACTUALLY it is your fault! If you took any time out and talked to our table you wouldve found out everyone sitting there is in the restaurant industry and we all have heavy expierence in high volume restaurants unlike this craphole establishment you are working at. We all understand the business and tried to be patient as possible but since it was so loud in there we couldnt hear each other talking the whole situation became more irritating.

The food was taco bell quality - AWFUL!
Chicken was stringy, corn was cold, cheese wasn't melted.

At the end of my meal I saw the host pass by and I asked him for the bill and a togo box since the waitress didnt care to ask. The waitress came by and tells me "I took the drinks off" Then when I look at the bill a open gratuity charge of 18% !!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable.

East LA - Learn something - SERVICE, FOOD QUALITY AND CLEANLINESS are very important in the hospitality business - East LA is poor in all aspects.

Hoboken residents go down the block to Qdoba you will get better food there! At least there if you ask for a manager they will show there face once

Went last night with 4 of my girlfriends for a fun dinner. There were several empty but dirty tables when we arrived and had to wait about 15 minutes for them to get around to cleaning and seating us, which was surprising, as they weren't busy. We were sat at 8:30ish; the chips and salsa were delicious, although between the 5 of us we ran out quickly and were never refilled. The special was buy-one-get-one entrees and draft beers. Awesome, we were SO excited and planned to make a night of it. We ordered 2 orders of fajitas (veryyyy good), chicken and cactus quesadillas (mixed reviews), and an order of chicken tacos (meh, just alright). Our waiter, Jorge, dropped our food and about a minute later asked to see if we were alright, which we were at the time.

Things went downhill from here. Half an hour later, our beer glasses had been empty for quite some time and we had to holler another waiter over who brought us another round, while our waiter sat at chatted at another table. We sat there drinking our 2nd round, with all our dirty dishes on the table. By this time the place was almost empty, still nothing was cleared and our waiter continued to socialize with friends and ignore us. We would have gone for a few more rounds, however, couldn't get his attention and he was talking on his cell phone. Finally, at 10:30 we had to get up, seek out our server, and demand the check. As soon as he walked away with our credit cards, my friend started shrieking. There was a small rodent running around near us! We called for help and alerted the staff - when they saw, they just laughed, muttered "oh no!" and did nothing. AND OUR WAITER CONTINUED TO PROCESS OUR CREDIT CARDS. The deal was great- I'm not trying to be cheap, but I do not expect to pay for a meal when a vermin is spotted. We got our cards back, and quickly left, as it was still scurrying about the dining area.

Amazing deals. Mediocre food. Worst service EVER. FILTHY environment.

The food is ok but the margaritas are to die for. It is a very fun place and love to go with a group when we do the Hoboken bar crawl. Would not recommend for a date.

after the rude hostess seated us after a long long wait time... she allowed a group of 3 to go ahead of us 2 just because some tables "were made for 3's".... when we got to the table it was sticky, and we saw them only wash it down with a wet dirty rag. it was disgusting. the only good thing was the waitress, forget her name, tiny with brown hair, was very nice

DO NOT GO TO EAST LA UNLESS YOU WANT R0ACHES IN YOUR FOOD!! There was group of us girls out for a nite of fun but instead we had r0aches! When we were done eating we saw about 3 r0aches on the wall crawling right next to our table!! I showed it to the bust boy & he said "yeah i see it" I proceeded to ask him for the manager but no one ever came. Then I approached our waiter named George and told him the situation and he said "well now u know what it's like to be in East LA" I told him it wasn't a time to joke it was a serious matter, again I asked for the manager. He said they've had that problem for years now soo then George pointed at an older woman maybe late 30's or 40's with blondish hair. I was trying to explain the situation and she was just plain rude she was inputting information into the computer and was not looking at me while I was speaking to her. She said there was no manager and I said well then who is in charge? She said no one really? And I go so what do you do if you have a problem? How can you run an establishment on a Friday night with no manager? Then she had the audacity to say "are you serious? u you never seen r0aches in a restaurant before? Outraged I said NOO are you serious acting like that is normal? And she said "are you serious you never seen r0aches in a restaurant in hoboken? And so I said I can't believe you are serious because we live in the US where there are health codes and regulations to abide to and she just walked off and completely ignored me!! Later on I found out through a friend that that lady was the manager and that George is kind of an assistant manager! They lied to me said there was no manager to avoid the problem! Whoever the owner of this rest is I suggest hiring a professional staff who has managerial experience & doesn't avoid problems & fix your r0ach problem! DIGUSTING!!! Spread the word tell every1 NOT TO GO THERE!!!

I recently moved to Hoboken from Manhattan and East LA has already become a staple. Their food is delicious - it's fresh, light, and doesn't leave you feeling heavy and over-stuffed. A huge serving of fresh homemade salsa is always served as soon as you sit down. The nachos are delicious as are the various taco salads (served with an unforgettable lime dressing). My favorite are the chicken fajitas which are tasty, filling, but again - doesn't leave you feeling "gross." The ingredients are always fresh and the service, although a bit on the slow side, is usually very friendly. A local favorite!

If you're having dinner anywhere in Hoboken, you have to cap off your night at East L.A. I must admit the food is just so-so, but the margaritas are fantastic. Just went there with some friends for Cinco de Mayo and that place was packed! We had a blue margarita and a pineapple one. Both were delicious and gave us quite the nice buzz. Other times, I've had their regular ones and the cliche strawberry ones and those are just as good. If you're daring, try one of Margaret's Cadillacs....two of those and you'll be dancing around the bar. Definitely a fun place to hang out with friends (or meet some new ones) and enjoy a good strong margarita.

PROS: Friendly staff, great margaritas
CONS: Can get loud

East L.A. has a very good vibe and during nice weather, you'll be able to eat outside. They have very large and very good platters and excellent margheritas which are decently priced. One of the better Mexican restaurants in North New Jersey. Because it is located in Hoboken, you might have a hard time finding parking at certain times.

PROS: Great vibe and food.
CONS: Parking

This is the home of great margheritas -- and very good mexican food. A good time is always had at East LA. Just be sure to limit yourself to two margheritas per visit or else! :)

Great Mexican food and the Margueritas will put you on your a$$. Go there to pre-game a bar night, because their bar-front only seats like 5 people, there is no standing room, and they close early. Eat there, then go to Cadillac.
