We recently had dinner here .. the food was Ok ... nothing to really write home about. The service was good ... the waiters were helpful and attentive. Overall, the dining experience was OK ... I would eat there again.

Dinner at Neros and we were seated beside a group of 5 tables in a side dining room. Nero's had put up ~7 foot high wicker partions to separate the group.

We brought our drinks from the bar (where we waited for 20 minutes) and waited another 15 minutes for a server to take our order. She was also busy with the group beside us.

While eating our appetizers --- the children beside us were wild and the partition came down on my head. Nero's staff did nothing.

While eating our porterhouse steaks -- the partition came down on my head and my partner got up demanding in the crowd to confront the parents of these children. Nero's staff did nothing.

Approximatley 15 people in side tables saw the drama.

We had enough. Didn't finish our steaks and expected some kind of good faith in the restaurant, i.e. If the restaurant is this expensive and we're also paying for the atmosphere --- this restaurant SUCKED! They offered two coffees --- which would have kept us longer in the restaurant. Not at that table, that was for sure -- and really, we had enough.

The Manager didn't have the guts to talk to us and left it for the waitress to deal with us.

Was the food acceptable: Yes.
CONS: The Atmosphere wasn't sophisticated or high-class enough for the expense your paying.

Recommendation: Robert's Steakhouse in Cranford as an alternate.

Neros has been a landmark in Livingston and is usually busy. However, I find them not to be consistent with the food. I have had ordered the same item on two differenet occassions and they have been different. Nero's is hit or miss. You can go and it could be great or it could be so so.
