Today on our way to Metropark, we visited the Edison Family Restaurant on Oak Tree Road. We have driven past it for years, but the parking lot was always full. Well now we know why. The food was yummy, and the service as friendly as could be. It was like we were visiting the 1950s: paintings on the mirrors advertising their specialties, waitresses with ponytails and everyone smiling.
Since it was past breakfast but not yet lunch time, my son devoured a bacon& egg hamburger from the breakfast menu. I had an artichoke, spinach mushroom and muenster cheese omelet with the crispy, crunchy waffle fries. Next time I'm going to pay the 75 cents extra for the sweet potato waffle fries. My husband had the sausage omelet.
The walls advertised their soups to take home and their "world famous spinach pie", and as we left they were on display at the cashier. We bought a slab of the spinach pie - over 2" tall and we got a quart of the vegetable soup. We were still full in the evening, so we selected to have only these for dinner. Both delicious!

The food is alright. The menu is extensive. The soup selection is quite large, but the general quality of food is only alright. The staff is genuine, but any local chain would provide a better dining experience.

We completely agree with the last reviewer about the whacky, phoney blond at the register...customer oriented she is not. Too much nickel and dime extra charges for things included at most diners. Run down and once very good when the owner Teddy was there but now that he is gone, so has this place gone down. Prices keep going up but the quality, which is fair, remains the same. Eat there only in a pinch.

This family owned resturant serves the most delicious soup. There is often a wait, especially at lunch time. The friendly atmosphere and staff makes this the perfect family resturant. The Edison Family Restaurant seems to serve what can be described as typical diner-type meals with avergage size portions. Highly recommended.

Family owned and run (I think) and a very welcoming atmosphere. The place looks a bit run down - could use a facelift - but has great, fast served breakfasts at a great price. It's like a quiant family diner. The food is cooked to your liking and the service is fast. Can't beat that! Very crowded on the weekend mornings!

This is a very popular eatery. It is only open for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is always very good. Lunch they have great homemade soups. But parking at varous times can be bad.
