Brought my Rottie in when he needed major surgery. Dr. Piccone and staff were compassionate, professional, and extremely helpful. They laid out all of our options and went the extra mile to provide maximum care while minimizing the expense. As far as I can tell so far, the surgery itself was precise and effective. My guy's stitches healed well and he was on his feet in no time. The techs showered him with love and attention, and I have no doubt that this sped his recovery.

Not to knock anyone else's experience, if it was not a great one. In my own experience, however, AVA has delivered consistently great quality of care, and I am glad to recommend them!

Other than their over-booking habit, I've never had much to complain about. However, I have to refuse to go back after the tech gave an empty injection to my cat suffering from inoperable cancer, then stuck the needle THROUGH her skin and out the other side on the second try, squirting the fluid all over the table and cat. 3 sticks, in a dying cat.

Also, after a punch biopsy on her tumor, Dr. P did not bother to stitch the one or two sutures to close her wound, which remained gaping in the likeness of a gunshot wound until she was put down. She oozed saliva and blood until then as well.

Brutality and laziness.

We started going here on a recommendation from a family member after getting a new puppy. While the service was adequate if the dog is healthy, our pup had repeated bouts of pneumonia and I do not feel that the vet or the staff addressed the situation properly. When we returned for a third time with the pup once again not doing well (lethargic, shivering, not eating at home), they said they found nothing on their exam. My partner took the dog home and called back when puppy then threw up. The staff said it was likely just car-sickness (which she'd never had on any other car ride). We took her to Penn Vet Hospital at that point for a second opinion and it turned out she had diffuse bilateral pneumonia. When they examined her the next day at the Penn vet hospital, she was found to have a cleft palate.
This is a hard thing to diagnose, I am not upset that it was missed by our vet. I AM disappointed though that we would bring the dog in, saying she was sick, and they would simply say she was fine and discharge her and on top of it tell us nothing was wrong again after she started throwing up. It seems that a thorough exam was not actually done, as she was breathing very poorly and had changes in her breath sounds the whole time. If you have a pretty healthy animal that needs only shots and a quick check up once in a while, this vet is probably fine. If anything more serious is happening, unfortunately, I don't feel confident that the one vet working there has enough time to spend on each individual animal. I am in the process of finding another vet because I no longer trust the judgment of the doctor at Audubon.

I too as a child had fond memories of Dr. Simmons who cared for my Nana's family dog and then my family's dog. The office staff was always so friendly with us children and we loved going there for the dog's visits. Then when I moved out and got a cat, I found myself not even having to wonder which Vet to use. It was a no brainer. Dr. Piccone joined him when I had a dog of my own and who St. Clare absolutely adored and he made her feel so comfortable too. She was a shelter puppy and not treated very well before we got her. She cozied right up to him and all 16 of her years, she was cared for as if she were their #1 patient, but she wasn't. They treat all their patients as if they're #1. The office is "the" most caring group of people I know. They realize these animals are our "family," and do everything medically possible to ensure our animals stay healthy and when they become ill, everything to either cure them or make them as comfortable as they can be when they become old. They will give you the advice you need, not what you want to hear. They will not tell you something merely to keep your patronage, but will tell you how it is, even when it's something we don't want to admit to ourselves when the "time" has come to let go. The entire staff is very friendly and you get a feeling of home when you're in the office. But most of all, I feel a sense of my animal is getting the best possible care possible at Audubon Veterinary in Audubon, NJ. Thanks, Dr. Piccone and staff and I can't wait to bring you our new baby!!!

I remember being a child and going to this facility with my grandmother and her prized poodles. Later, my mother would take our pets there and even get an occasional call from the vet asking if we could take in a special needs animal, which we did. We had 6 cats, 2 dogs and a wild rabbit. Now, I am an adult with multiple animals and we are still using this wonderful facility. The doctors are caring and compassionate. They know us and all of our animals. They grieve when we grieve. It's truly a wonderful center.

I have an eight year old dog. When my vet retired, I went in search of another caring veterinarian. I chose Audubon based on the large number of recommendations I received for this practice. I was not disappointed. There was hardly a wait. Appointments are scheduled promptly. The veterinarian we saw was sensitive and caring to our needs. The practice impressed me as competent and compassionate.

PROS: Great Vet!
CONS:

When we adopted a rescued bichon dog , as cute as he was he came along with some issues.

He had a bad case of fleas and Kennel cough which is highly contagious among dogs and potentially fatal if not properly cared for .

Audubon Vets gave hom the best of care and together we saw him thru and today he is happy and healthy and a vibrant dog making his owners very happy and living a good life.

They were even willing to work with us on costs if needed .
