My family has been going to Stage Left for years and we just love it. I celebrated my 21st Birthday there because I could finally order off of their amazing wine list. I started with a shashimi style fluke with hazelnuts and a chili

Affordable and delicious! Recently I went to the theatre and and stopped by Stage Left because it was so nearby. We ordered their petite menu which was only $35. It even had options, I ordered the trout while my husband ordered the pork belly. We will definitely be back.

Pros: unique, delicious dishes

Whenever my husband and I have something special to celebrate, this is where we go. The dishes here are unique (such as rabbit ravioli) and absolutely delicious. The ambiance is wonderful. There is usually soft jazz music and great American artwork on the walls. Overall, one of the best restaurant experiences that I've ever had.

The food at Stage Left is in a category by itself - some of the best steaks I've ever had, and great variety on the meny. The service is also first rate. Expect to pay for quality though - this place is not cheap.

Stage Left has amazing, amazing food. It is a very high class and expensive restaurant, but is it perfect for special occasions. The ambiance is lovely, and the waiters and waitresses are always kind and attentive. The food is in a category if its own--its always fresh and better than I expect.

From the moment we walked into the restaurant, we were taken into hands of luxury and great service. They greeted us warmly at the door, took our coats, and sat us by the romantic fireplace. Our server was extremely gracious, and knowledgeable about their food and mammoth sized wine list. The food was scrumptious. Definitely a place for a special occasion, or date. Although, in the bar, they do serve "Jersey's best hamburgers" (as informed to us by several other diners and our bartender). This is definitely a place you want to leave the children at home with the babysitters!

Cons: Bit pricey

Stage Left is one of those once in a lifetime eats. (Its expensive for a reason.) My friend and I were very very late for our reservation, however, the staff accomodated us beautifully. We received prompt seating and attention. The staff knew the menu and the restaurant well. Wine pairings were made with excellent judgement. The food was amazing and rich and delivered with a short schpiel about what we had and gorgeous presentation. At times the food definitely seemed to lean toward french and at others, quite american, but it was delicious anyway. I loved how comfortable I felt and how professional the waitstaff was. Definitely should try it.

Pros: staff, gourmet

Cons: pricey

When we first go there the host looked at us as if we did not belong. The waiting staff was very nice and prompt, except for the check at the end. The wine menu was way over priced. Most reputable restaurants charge twice the retail price for bottles. Here, it seemed to be closer to three times the retail price or more in some cases. Even though the presentation was nice, the food was sub-par at best. Taste should come first then presentation, not the other way around. The cheeses on the cart looked like they have been sitting around for half a week and were cut haphazardly. Good cheese presentations are maintained much better. Last, the bread pudding desert was actually a glorified muffin sitting in liquid, cut in half with ice cream in the middle. Either, it was a muffin or it was extremely overcooked bread pudding.

American food with a French flair translates into dishes such as braised short ribs served with radish salad with Anson Mills polenta; and olive oil poached halibut with asparagus puree, beet gastrique, and shaved fennel and asparagus…
