Carmella's is one of the best family owned, traditional southern Italian seafood restaurants in the area! I discovered it three years ago, and I go whenever I'm in the area for intimate dinners, business, family affairs. Always excellent, fresh, traditional Italian specialties, as well as something interesting and new. And everyone there makes me feel like family. Three generations of the Frodella family give Carmella's their heart, soul, the taste, ambience, and warmth of the old country. Fresh and pure ingredients -- forget about it! Leo's at the fish market several times a week, hand selecting (and getting the best deals on) the pick of the sea. Authentic -- grandma still helps out in the kitchen! Creative -- they not only know the classics, they know how to use traditional methods to create modern classics. Lucy's home baking is to die for. And Johnny and everyone keeps the place feeling like you're eating with a family, not a heartless/mindless/souless corporation. You want something special? Ask for it! A party? No problem. You can even buy prepared and fresh food at their market to take home. And, at these prices, how could you go wrong?

Cons: If you want fantsy shmancy this place isn't that pretentious. Not fast food.

This restaurant is a favorite among locals. It is consistently very good. The seafood dishes are always fresh as are ALL of the dishes served. There are daily specials and they all come with a warm, personal touch. All the food is individually prepared using the best quality ingredients. This is a family owned and operated establishment with a long history of serving great meals. The service is very good and they make sure your dining experience is enjoyable, beginning to end. Although some may think that the lack of a liquor license is a negative, most believe otherwise. There is no corking fee and you can save and bring the wine or beer of your liking. Another convenience is that there is a liquor/wine store located a few hundred feet from the restaurant. Another note, this is a great place to have a party, shower, or gathering.

From our 4 yo to Grandpa, we all enjoy a meal out at Carmella's. From the appetizers with delicious fresh mozzarella to the seafood entrees to the fabulous homemade dessert tray to choose from, everything is always delicious. The atmosphere is simple but elegant. This is our favorite local restaurant for special occasions as well as just a quiet meal out.

Pros: Freshly prepared seafood, homemade desserts

Cons: Don't be deceived by the simple storefront.

The dining room is small but very cozy. The staff were friendly and courteous. We thoughtthe food was great. My wife and I went by ourselves and we plan on returning with the kids. A bonus for us was that there is a pizza place attached and we were able to bring a pie home for the kids.

You won't be disappointed.

Visited twice, once with my Mother and once with the Wife. Nice intimate atmosphere with attentive waitresses and staff in a very neat and clean roomy space. The salads were superb with a tasty house dressing. The entrees were
delicious both the fish and the meats. A very enjoyable evening for both of my favorite women and myself. I will certainly be back.

We loved it. My husband and I went there looking for Italian food and a quiet setting, and were very happy with our dining experience. We were seated immediately, and the service was prompt and friendly. If you are looking for romantic... this is the place! There are plenty of secluded tables or just tables where you can have conversations without worrying about privacy. I ordered shrimp, and it was delicious. Very mouth-watering, and prepared just the way I like it. My husband had chicken, and was very pleased. The specialties for that evening, made me want to try one of each, but yeah, I think I am supposed to be dieting, and not doing "the one of each"! Everything was very fresh, and prepared with much attention to detail. So they don't have their liquor license yet...so what??? ..Bring a bottle of your favorite wine with you...bring two!! Because you will want to stick around for the dessert tray. Yummm!!! So did I enjoy my dining experience? You bet! Would I go back? Looking forward to it! If you noticed, I said I went there with my husband, ....and I still thought the place was romantic! If you want to bring the kids, go ahead! The way the place is set up, you could bring the kids, and be seated where they aren't bothering anyone, and they can have pizza!!! When we were there, there was a 75th birthday dinner going on, with grandchildren, a baby, etc., ....they were happy, other customers were happy!! What more can I say??

The atmosphere is cozy and quaint, the service is friendly with plenty of smiles! Our waitress told us each meal is individually prepared as they are ordered and you can taste it with every flavorfull bite! It was so good i went back 2 times in one week. Everything i tasted from appetizer to dessert was a flavorfull taste explosion in every bite. I am Italian , and dine out in italian restaurants all over the country, including NYC. This place is the best. I can't wait to go back!!!!

Cons: you would never know it from the outside, just go inside!

My husband and I tried this place one year ago and have not returned. It is too small and when they took our name for the waiting lits, they called people that came about 20 minutes after us. The service was too slow and the food average.

Cons: too small, poor service
