Rahway Dance Theatre

Mrs.Jay Skeet-Lee and her dedicated student/assistants have made what started out in a little church rec-room a few years ago in to a State renowned dance art phenomenon. Drawing her aspiring professionals from the community as far as 20 miles away to their little studio by the NJ Coastal train line on the up-and-coming Cherry Street section of Rahway, the Rahway Dance Theatre is making a name for itself and the County of Union in events throughout NJ. Jay runs a "dance camp" in the summer for students who want to concentrate without the competing focus on their preacademic studies. During the rest of the year, evening classes fill the regular workweek between 4:30 and 9:30 PM with weekend classes on Saturdays between 10 and 12:30. Across Irving Street is a new parking garage for the convenience of students, their families, and commuters to and from NYC. Around from the studio's corner location on Cherry Street is a fine coffee shop, a low-priced urban clothing store, and a fine art store with also of excellent value. GiGi's Dance and Active Wear (375 Jaques Ave, Rahway NJ) is located 7 minutes away on the corner of St.Georges (Rt.27) Avenue near The Firehouse (theme restaurant) and The Galaxy Diner by the Union/Middlesex County borders, though dancers from other areas have a variety of options. The Nutcracker is performed annually by the RDT, most recently at The Rahway Theater (2005), and this past (2006) year at Elizabeth's Ritz Theater on E.Jersey Street.
