The food is outstanding, the appetizers are amazing and the service couldn't be better. I usually combine some sushi with one or two of their very creative cocktails, yummy.\nThe only downside is the atmosphere. Although the crowd is usually pleasant I don't like to style, it's more like a sports-bar and just too small. Their location in Totowa is much much better.

Sushi Lounge is perfect for a first date! It's right on the river and has a great view-- I took this girl I was seeing for the first time there last week. It's tiny with just a few tables and very intimate. I got this huge Dragon Roll that melted in my mouth and she wouldn't stop raving about this TY KU cocktail on their menu with agave nectar! The best part was during dinner out of no where fire works went off over the river! Talk about looking like mr. romantic-- she loved it!

The Sushi Lounge does a great job of combining sushi with, well, lounging! I really enjoyed my experience here. The intimate atmosphere is perfect for dates and special occasions such as anniversaries. I recommend this place for every one above 21.

The HOBOKEN roll is to die for, spicy tuna is delicious. Their presentation is amazing and the service is prompt and courteous. It is usually loud inside of the restaurant so I would reccomend sitting outside on a nice night. The sushi si really good, however I did not get any type of sashimi. Great date spot.

I enjoyed myself at Sushi Lounge I tried new things and they were delish!! I LOVE their desserts!!! It gets a bit packed so you may have to wait, and sometimes they blast the music a little too loud. But other than that I loved it. The service and the food were great. It isn't pricey at all, even better they have their menu posted online so you can take a look before you even stop by how great is that??

I use Citysearch all the time for advice, but have never reviewed before. I felt the NEED to review Sushi Lounge because of the sad amount of negative reviews here. DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM! I first discovered Sushi Lounge through the Morristown location. I have been going to and ordering from both locations for years now, and have yet to be disappointed once! It's a little pricey, but you will not find better sushi and atmosphere in NJ. The fish is FRESH, and you feel like you can actually sit and enjoy yourself while you eat (unlike some other local sushi houses which rely on take-out or delivery). It can get a little loud when the bar crowd gets going, and it is a little pricy. BUT you'll pay TWICE as much at Koi in the city for half the food!\r\nI spent NYE 2006 at Morristown Sushi Lounge and had a blast... plan to dine at Sushi Lounge in Hoboken prior to this year's festivities in NYC. TRY SUSHI LOUNGE, you won't regret it!! Obviously they've gotten something right... their THIRD restaurant just opened! Money talks... and this place is making money and expanding!

Cons: Little loud when bar crowd's in full swing

Can't beat the sushi, regular here but not so regular lately as the rolls seem to be shrinking! How can a special roll for 14/15 dollars come out the size of the a tootsie roll! But seriously the food is consistently great, remember the edemame should be hot not warm and I'll be back!!

Went there on my 10th wedding anniversary and I won't wait another 10 years to go back. Ambiance was warm and inviting, service was excellent, and the food was even better. Got the sushi for two and an entree and we were stuffed. I will definitely go back...and soon.

Truly an exeptional experience. Sushi is as fresh as you can find, anywhere. Dj's play lounge music, not teenybop music and the service is friendly. Very nicely managed. A great find in general!!!!!!

I went on Monday, half price mojito.. but they failed to specify that it's only regular mojitos not the specialty ones. So we ended up paying for $9. mojitos with no alcohol. The sushi is tasteless and has gotten VERY SMALL, $14. for a mediocre special roll is pretty expensive. The music is loud and for TEENYBOPPERS.

I ordered from this Friday, 5 rolls and 2 miso soups and a 15% coupon. The total was $34. I have been to the restaurant before and love it but may never go back again. When the rolls arrived they were TINY. The miso soup at $2.50 a pop was equivalent to two measuring cups. At nearby Robongi which has huge rolls meaning plenty of fish and $1.50 miso soups the soups were three times the size as SL. I called the restaurant to give them feedback and they did not care. They were defensive and was not open to feedback. Guess they don't care to improve.

I sampled a lot of these rolls and they are all great, especially the hudson roll. The sushi is pretty good. It's not the highest quality of sushi but for the price it is pretty good. A sushi for 2 and a roll is about $25 a person. Noisy atmosphere but great food.\n

I am a frequent here for many reasons including, BEST SUSHI ANYWHERE, great music (DJ's and live bands) and friendly, overly? courteous staff. How can such a busy restaurant make you feel so ""at home""? The new head sushi chef has loads of talent and you truly will not find more creative sushi anywhere, especially in NJ. Have a first date? Go there!!!

Cons: Long Wait, Service Varies

the service is sub-par, and has been on every trip, the sushi varies - from slightly above average to poor (had a very very fishy maguro, which isn't a culinary stretch), and the music is often too loud to allow any coversation (i like the music, i just like not shouting at my friends seated with me, too). don't bother making the trip.

I've eaten at this place about 15 times and I have always enjoyed every aspect. The fish is as fresh as any I have had, and I've dined all over the world. Their creative roles and presentation just add more enjoyment to the meal. Additionally, where can you eat great sushi and be entertained by a DJ or a live jazz trio in NJ, or NY for that matter? It just doesn't exist. Expect a long wait as they do not take reservations. All of the other reviews sound like sour grapes because a NJ restaurant made it to the top 10 of NY restaurants. Make the trip to Hoboken, you will be pleasantly surprised at the overall delight that is eating at the Sushi Lounge.

Although the service and the atmosphere are a plus, the sushi is horrible. I actually went there several times thinking it would get better but in fact the food got worse. If you are looking for a place with great sushi try Ubu across the street from Sushi Lounge. The atmosphere isn't as nice but the sushi is fantastic.

After reading some of these reviews, I thought that visiting might be a wast of time. Fortunately, we tried anyway and we believe it lives up to the top 3 position in ""Best of"" in the metro area for quality, atmosphere and value! The rolls were plentiful and ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and the sushi was MOUTHWATERING AND EXTREMELY FRESH. By the way, they don't even have ketchup in the entire restaurant as one reviewer suggests. The dj spun a deep house, most of which I never heard on the radio and certainly did not approach the ""Pop Genre"", and the restaurant was filled with BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE! We had the pleasure of meeting the executive sushi chef who explained in detail his ingredients in the 2 special rolls that were featured that evening AND HE PERSONALLY INVITED US BACK. We will certainly accept that invitation. IT IS A COMPLETE DINING EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!

If your into high volume Teenage Bubble Gum Pop music, kids dressed like a bad rap video, and sushi thats not really sushi, then you'll probably think that Sushi Lounge is ""phat"".\n\nWe ate some bizzare sushi rolls, including one that had tomato sauce in it. The DJ, (there's a live DJ in the restaurant, no, make that Lounge) has the same taste as the DJ's that play at kids Birthday Parties, I'm 48, and even I recognized all the artists he was using from my childrens parties. It's pathetic, but hey, this is Mall-Town. Anyway after hearing Britney Spears belt out ""I'm a slave"" and watching as every table of Hoboken hipsters sang along, I got the sudden urge to cry uncontrollably, instead we just left, and in a hurry.\n\nThey should really lose the Sushi moniker, and just call it a Pop lounge. Truly Awful.

Sushi Lounge may be the best sushi in Jersey, but it can't compare to places in NYC on its best day. Want to try the BEST, here's your list:\n\n1. Nobu in TriBeCa\n2. Blue Ribbon in SOHO\n3. Tomoe in West Village\n4. Bond Street in NOHO\n5. Sachi in UES\n6. Gari in UES \n7. Yama in West Village\n8. Ed in Village\n9. Yasuda in Mid town\n10. Japonica in Village\n\nWe could easily tack on another 40 that serve real sushi. Sushi Lounge puts CONDIMENTS in their rolls, I'm not making this up! They have sushi rolls with Mayonaise, with Ketchup...KETCHUP!! This place is a joke!\n\nIf you think its the best in Metro New York, obviously you have no clue as to what sushi is. Sushi Lounge is for folks that are into loud DJ music, the stuff mostly listened to by teens. Get real.

Wow. My mouth is still watering from the assorted sushi (must have jumped out of the ocean onto my plate) and ingenious, daring rolls. Deep Sake selection and unusually large and good wine selection for a sushi rest. Specialty drink menu is hard to match and they are mixed extemely well. Unbelievable DJ spinning great lounge music during dinner and then smoothly mixing in house as the night progressed. A+ .. Enjoy the scene, great looking people.

We jumped the Path Train to Hoboken to try this Sushi Lounge out. It was a waste of time. At best, it's a mediocre restaurant, forget about the fish variety, I asked for Char (A sushi staple), and received a blank look from the waiter, same fish here as any grocery store. But they do have a wide variety of rolls, but put in way too much rice. I'd say that Sushi Lounge is on par with NYC's Haru, a decent place at best. They should get a top chef that can really cut fish, a good staff that know their menu, and at LEAST 60 variety of fish, which as any avid sushi fan knows: makes or breaks the expirience.

Cons: Boring Variety, Too many yups, hard rice

These reviews all seem quite strange. When my party of four arrived at Sushi Lounge in Hoboken, New Jersey for supper we were treated like trash, they ignored us, and when finally we were seated, our food came an hour later (the place was not crowded). The sushi was 3rd rate at best, and mostly all they had was New Wave Rolls, that tasted like they had been frozen. Our bill was $40 more than we ordered, and it took close to an hour to get them to correct it. I've been treated with more Class and Dignity at Arbys!\n\n Sushi Lounge thinks very little of the people in Hoboken, which is evident is their horrible service, chewy, cold sushi, and amateur service. We will never go back, and In doubt a place that treats people like garbage will last very long!!!!!!

Very good each time I have gone. DJ's are very good and you really can't beat the sushi anywhere I've eaten.

It was great. Despite some hiccups with the service, it was great and I will be back. The food was extremely fresh... and the choices were many.

This place is great! First of all the food is fantastic. Certainly top two in Hoboken. The feel is great, a great date place. I highly recommend it.

sushi lounge is good if you don't ever get out of hoboken. the rolls are pretty typical. sometimes the combination is a little weird. the staff is really courteous and professional though. and the atmosphere is pretty cool. but if you are living in the city, there is absolutely no need to travel to hoboken to eat sushi.

I HAVE BEEN HERE APPROXIMATELY 8 TIMES AND EACH AND EVERYTIME THE EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN OUTSTANDING. THE FISH IS AMAZINGLY FRESH AND PREPARED SO WELL WITH LARGE CUTS.AND THE MUSIC (BY A DJ) IS A PERFECT COMPLEMENT TO THE MEAL, AS IS THE ""MODEL"" TYPE CROWD. WORTH THE TRIP TO HOBOKEN, EVEN IF IT IS A BIT TOUGH TO GET TO!!!!

I found it!!! A great sushi restaurant in NJ. Great fish and nice atmosphere. Very good dj's (everynight) and I have never been disappointed in a meal. Not to mention, the bar is plentiful and the drink list is hard to match! Finally!

This is Hoboken? Come on, I must be in NYC. Great fish, great vibe, but no attitude. I didn't have to wait 3 months, just 40 minutes. Truly this place is a gem. I recommend strongly. Please open one closer to my hometown!

This was a great place to go on a Saturday nite, even though the weather was too cold to eat outside. It was crowded, the music was fun, drinks were strong and sushi was good. Pretty affordable too...
