I love this place!
by MSDST8
There is a new owner but I started with the old owner (Mrs Pat). She was wonderful. After I saw her playing on the playground with the kids, I knew this was the place for my son. She was getting dirty with the kids and having a ball.
My son is in Mrs Ann's room (and I love her). One thing you notice is that the teachers have been there for years. It's that type of place. People enjoy working there and the kids enjoy attending. The baby room...they are learning sign language and spanish. Wonderful place!
They treat my children like I would treat them. They are respectful and loving. They are kind and peaceful. They put your child?s needs first!
They are focused on play and learning. My child is much farther along than other kids at other schools. They don't force learning...he learns through play and hands on activities. They have a huge playground and get to take nature walks. They have speakers that come in to talk about important issues. They have learning stations, water tables, etc. Every year they grow butterflies and release them. The kids love it!
They also have you sign a sheet in the infant room telling you they will not give your child water or juice unless you directly instruct them. This has been their rule for over 4 years!
Pros: Loving, Fun, Child Centered, Educational
Cons: None

I used Free to Be Me for 8 months before becoming so fed up that we left. We enrolled our daughter in their infant room when they first opened it. We were very tolerant of the learning curve but... they one day neglected to give our infant her milk because I had sent frozen breast milk, they thought it was an ice pack but never called to ask needless to say our infant was given water in her bottle instead of milk. They had called us many times over silly matters but something serious like not bringing your child's food, they could not call for that. They are pathetic!
The day we left was when the owner miss Pat and the nursery worker Miss Mary both in one day treated me as if I were a child when talking to me about my daughter. In general while going there, I received more parenting advice than any other place I went. They felt for some reason that I must have been paying them for their input. I am mid-twenties, not a teenager but they treated me as if I had no idea what I was doing with my child. I would never go there again, even if they offered me free childcare. Since leaving I have met other moms who have left for very similar reasons. They seem to have a high turn over... we enjoy chatting horror stories about Free to Be Me at Gymboree class!
Pros: They have a great location
Cons: The owner is a nightmare!
